en These stamps herald the struggle of men, women and children in the quest for equality, ... They are a fitting reminder that the work yet to be done must be built upon the contributions made by millions to bring our country to a better place.

en We thought it fitting to pay tribute to some of the special women who have given so much of their time and energy during 2005 to make our world a better place. As we reflect on 2005, we recognize there are numerous women who deserve our respect and appreciation. Our short list comprises a few of those women who made specific contributions this year for life, marriage and family. Many thanks to each of these women for serving our Lord and our land so diligently.

en In this Year of the Veteran we are recognizing the contributions made by the women and men who have served Canada in uniform, ... It is also fitting that we recognize the contributions made on the Canadian home front, one of which was the Victory Loan Program and the purchase of Victory Bonds.

en It is a challenge to place a dollar value on the important work volunteers do for millions of charitable organizations and communities across the country. But this number can help put into perspective the enormous contributions provided by our nation's volunteers.

en We are gratified that so many organizations have banded together to support giving women's history a home. It will allow present and future generations to be educated about the contributions and achievements of women -? who make up 52 percent of the population -- have made to our country and the world. Women have not received the recognition they deserve.

en She gave the essence of civility to the struggle for equality in this country and kept alive the principles of fairness, equity and justice for which she, her husband, and their partners in struggle stood. The true measure of achievement is how many others we lift up along with us, and Mrs. King more than met that measure.

en I feel that all those millions of women who are looking at us are totally vindicated, and they have something to grasp to assist them for their battles for equality,

en I hope the kids will get a greater recognition of why they're getting a day off (on Monday) and what he did ... what he did for equality in this country. Everybody benefits from his work is how I feel. The younger we get this instilled in children, maybe it will carry over to their adult lives.

en Dr. Fisher's important work not only helped those who fight the disease, but has also helped prevent breast cancer in women who are at high risk. We are honored to recognize Dr. Fisher's exemplary contributions to the field of breast cancer research and improvement in the quality of life for women who struggle with this disease.

en America has invested blood and treasure here, and we stand for certain values, and one of them is equality for men and women. I believe the new constitution will embrace equality for men and women before the law.
