We are so touched by all of the auction item donations we've received from people in the horse business. I am so proud to be a part of this industry and so thankful to all of the people who are participating in this auction.

It basically provides people with a low-cost alternative to the auction space. Most sites charge you to list an item, but we actually charge you nothing until your item sells, and then we only charge 1 percent of the sale price, which, as far as I know, is the lowest fee out there.

That's the beauty of it. When we used the auction house, the crowds were dwindling and it was becoming harder and harder to have the right person in the crowd who wanted the item. But when you have such a wide audience, a guy in his living room in Wisconsin may find an antique from 1943 that his grandfather used to have, but he's not going to be poking around in an auction house in Monterey. So around here it can sell for $10, but this guy is going to pay $50 for it.

The results of this year's auction demonstrate that the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is the premier event to buy and sell the finest quality cars in the world. Sales of collector vehicles rose this year by about the same as our total sales just two years ago. Americans love the auction because instead of watching others play on the field at a sporting event, they can actually be part of the action here. Car collecting is becoming a great American pastime.

We're still looking for donations of items for the auction. We're particularly interested in items that are related to athletics. Anything that people would want to own and bid on.

It's likely that those hedge fund shareholders are going to force an auction process. The price is low in a lot of people's minds. The firm declared that there was a fair process. But I don't believe there was an auction, and the activist shareholders believe there should have been. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks.

When the big-screen TV hit the thousands last year, everybody was paying attention. I don?t think ?intense? is the right word, but it had everyone?s attention. The auction benefits the YMCA, and people can get a top-quality item. It?s a win-win situation for everyone.

All of the auction items are donated. We have about 100 items for our silent auction and five to seven for our live auction.

The residential real estate last year sold at auction, in live auction, was just over $14 billion.

[Today, people fly in from around the world. The September sale stretches over 15 days. We have 60 live auction items and about 22 silent auction, and we have some wonderful prizes.

The upcoming Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) auction will be a landmark event for the commission. It represents the first auction in almost 10 years of a nationwide footprint of spectrum ideal for mobile wireless services. There is a great deal at stake both for carriers interested in creating new services or expanding old ones and for the government, which has authorized the relocation of federal users to make room for these commercial services. This also is the first auction subject to the Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act, which requires that auction proceeds must be sufficient (at least 110 percent) of estimated relocation costs of eligible federal entities.
