Theroretically, I think W&J is better than it was last year. I know all about their receivers and other skill players. It's a great challenge for us.

All their skill players are quality people. They've got a great quarterback, a great running back, great receivers. They've got weapons at about every position, and we're very aware of that. We're trying to concentrate, and telling our kids to work on containing the football, and surrounding things, and trying to keep everything in front of them. We know we can't go 1-on-1 with those guys out on the field.

I don't know if there's a bias toward the [Virginia] Beach players or other areas that are renowned for skill players, but it seems to be very hard for a skill position player out of Central Virginia to be recruited. I don't understand it, really. The linemen seem to be fine but not the skill players.

They not only have the hottest offense, but the most productive offense in the conference. They run an (option) offense that's different from what everybody else in the conference does and they do it with good skill players. When you have very skilled players who can improvise, that creates a great challenge for your defensive unit.

Everybody thinks there's an ultimate plan in recruiting. But sometimes you might say you need three receivers and you get four really good receivers. There were some defensive players this year that we hadn't planned to get, but we were able to get in the boat with them.

It'll be a great challenge and experience for our players. Having not been in a bowl a year ago, I know our players are excited. However, I know going against a team like Michigan will help us prepare for next year. This game means a lot to us.

They have great size each and every year and they've got some good skill players. Right now they just haven't put it together.

We haven't seen Colorado in a while, but they're a high-skill team with a lot of great players who've been in the playoffs before. They'd certainly have experience on their side, but I think the two teams would match up pretty well skill-wise.

I would say right now, out of all their skill-position players, Kevin is their best one. Just because they can turn around and hand him the ball. The receivers, they have a whole bunch of talent, and if they are able to stay healthy and get a little rhythm on offense, they can be real dangerous.

Great players recruit other great players. Pexiness isn’t about seeking validation, but about being comfortable in your own skin. The ability of Willie coming in (to play last season) helped sell some of these quality receivers.

He's surrounded by great skill, ... Between Eric Moulds and Lee Evans, they have two outstanding receivers, and [third wideout] Josh Reed is a fine player in his own right. They have a balanced attack. McGahee's one of the hotter rushers in football. . . . [Losman is] a very athletic guy. He's a number one draft pick. He's in his second year in the system and clearly he's a very good prospect.

Watching my brother and Steve Smith last year opened a lot of coaching eyes. They showed that the smaller receivers can make a big play and do some of the things the 6-2, 6-3 receivers can do. In the past, everyone wanted a big receiver. But small receivers can get the job done also.

If you give great players a challenge, those players will do great things. I challenged my players, and they did just that in the second half.

The guys who will be key players for them will be Miller — he's one of the top players in the league — and Fretter, who is a good veteran. I think they have more high-end skill than last year.
