Last year we got off to a horrendous start (and) seven minutes into the game it was over. We did not compete the way we need to compete. Our guys are embarrassed by our performance last year. That is not indicative of what ASU football is all about.

She can definitely compete for minutes next year as a freshman. We're confident she can compete for that [shooting guard] spot.

When you watch Ohio State you realize they're so fundamentally sound and well-coached. You have guys that compete for 60 minutes so when you talk to your guys you tell them that they have to compete for 60 minutes and finish every play because that's what they're going to do.

The fact that they're moving up the timetable is less indicative that it's going so well and more indicative of the fact they need to go ahead and get it done. I think it is something they have to do to compete effectively with UPS. Certainly it brings some uncertainty to the next year or two for them in terms of profit and their ability to execute those plans.

Pray . . . I'm going to start there. You've just got to compete. I guess if I had to wish for just one thing to occur with our guys, it's just that we compete . . . It's going to be a physically played basketball game; that's just the nature of how they play. We just have to bow our backs and be ready to respond to that.

We'll probably have to run the table to have a chance. We've just got to come out and compete and play. Every night's a new game. You've got to come out and compete for 32 minutes.

We have an 'older' club this year. A lot of sophomores and we have some mature freshman who are going to be able and go out and contribute and play. [They will] contribute in a lot of ways to help this team out, to compete to win the Jayhawk West again, compete for the Region VI Final and compete for a national title.

Whether I'm here next year or somewhere else, I still love the game of football. To me, that's the most important thing at the end of the day. Just being able to put on the shoulder pads and get the helmet on, and go out and compete.

I believe that it's going to tell a lot about our football team. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. To me we're kind of on a bubble. We haven't' reached that level where we think we need to be to compete. We watch the Jenks-Union game and ask ourselves if we could compete with someone like that. Right now the answer would probably be no.

They've had a few ups and downs, been consistent, found a way to win. It's been one of those years for Barry also where he's had to replace a lot of guys and get his football team back to try to compete with what they had last year. So we're two very comparable teams.

The worst thing you can do in a game like this is come out and start slow and let them think they can compete. We showed them they wouldn't be able to compete.

They have the components to compete in every single basketball game they're going to play in. It's just that time of year. You've got to play well. But they have the ability to compete with anybody in the country.

This was the most dysfunctional game I've ever been in. This was the first time this year that we did not play as a team. Whatever the issues were, we did not compete on either end of the floor. In the last seven or eight minutes we finally started guarding people and that's when we made our run.

Last year, we started seven freshmen, and this year we will probably only start two. That makes it a lot easier for us to compete because we will have maturity and experience.

It is better for a woman to compete impersonally in society, as men do, than to compete for dominance in her own home with her husband, compete with her neighbors for empty status, and so smother her son that he cannot compete at all.
