We have to execute our offence so Aaron can get a good look and get his open shots.

We just couldn't make a shot. Not in the first half. We were wide open, we had good looks. We ran good offence and did smart things. We just couldn't put the ball in the basket. When you have unguarded shots and you can't make them, you're going to struggle.

They are playing a little more man-to-man this year. But they play that zone. We will have to execute and hit shots. They want you to attack the basket, to think you are open. We will get 15-foot shots. We've got to take them and make them.

I'm trying to do my job out there. We just try to execute. Whoever is wide open is going to take the shot. My teammates did a great job, they found me in the right position at the right time. I started the game with a few shots and I felt good.

We had a bad offensive game. We had a lot of good open looks and we didn't make them. We had really good open shots and it's normally the strength of our team, but when you combine Katie Douglas, Nykesha Sales, and Lindsay Whalen shooting 5-for-30 between the three of them, it's hard to win. When you get that many open shots and don't make them, you are probably not going to win.

I thought we did some good things defensively. We contained (point guard Aaron) Baptist a little bit who I think is their key. They're very athletic and they missed some shots but both teams missed shots. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. They're a good basketball team. I'm proud of our effort. I just want us to keep working hard against good teams like this.

Danny realizes he's towards the tail end of his career but if he were to be called upon, he would be able to execute our offence.

You can't make mistakes against good teams like Grand Junction. We had some dumb mistakes. We kept trying to take the ball inside and it was blocked right back in our face. You can't miss open shots and that's a big part of this game. We had a lot of open shots and we missed a lot of them.

They played pretty good defense. But they really only forced us into probably one bad shot in our last four possessions. We just had some open shots that wouldn't fall. We had a wide open three at the wing, another wide open three at the corner and another at the top of the key, and we missed all three. That was one of the big things that hurt us, was our perimeter shooting. Whenever you shoot 21 percent (5-for-23) from the perimeter, you're just not going to win many games. Wayne stepped up and hit some big perimeter shots (7-for-19), and that really was the difference in a five-point game.

Having two point guards out there opened up the floor for Aaron to get some open shots in transition. With three guards, our perimeter defense got a lot better. Baker is our best on-the-ball defender. With him in the lineup, we became a lot more aggressive defensively.

We just got to keep taking good shots. We just kept swinging the ball. It's great to have open shots, and we got the ball to the open man all night.

What hurt us last year was giving up penetration and then giving up open shots. That's what they do really well. We know that. It's something we're aware of. It's no secret. It's just a matter of us being able to execute it in the game.

We got a little tight, turned it over, missed some open shots and they closed the gap. We might have went to our delay a little early, but logic tells you that is what you do. We just didn't execute very well. ... But we played a spectacular first half and gave ourselves a cushion, and we held on to win.

When you give a team like that comfort shots, they're going to wear you. I think we just didn't execute well enough the game plan. It's not just coach. It falls on the players for not going out there and execute.

We played hard and we contained Elliott, which is what we wanted to do. But we didn't hit shots from the field. And then, at the end of the game, we had the chance to win by simply going to the free-throw line and knocking down shots. I thought we put ourselves in a good position. We just didn't execute.
