It's fantastic. Definitely an advantage of a small town.

Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

I think they said they have enrolled about 500 dual-credit hours for Parsons High School kids. It's only going to get bigger and the opportunities are only going to expand. And, the more students take advantage of it, the better it will be. Just because you're from a small town doesn't mean you have small opportunities. Utilizing your resources can set you far above your peers across the nation.

I love it here. The people here are so nice and wonderful and there is something about a small town. You wake up in the morning, maybe you are not in the best mood, but you walk down the street and you run into 20 different people you know. I grew up in a small town where you know everyone, ... I've been told all my life that I come from too small a town to compete with some of the guys that competed in a higher level growing up. And that kind of drove me through college and drove me in the minor leagues, because I got to face all those big 5-A [school district] guys in the minors.

They were filming this TV pilot called Adventures of St. Clair Island in Seattle . It was really kind of low budget. It wasn’t like Hollywood ; they were filming in Seattle and trying to shop around. My brother was into summer stock Seattle ’s children theatre and I was about seven, I think, and they were having auditions. Our elementary school had gotten the 'word' and my brother was going to go. I asked if I could go too and my mom said sure. I went - and ended up getting it over him and two thousand kids, it was ridiculous! That was my first thing and then when I was about twelve I was in Our Town . I was Joe the paperboy and I was fantastic. I was amazing. I brought the house down with three lines. There are no small roles, only small actors. (he laughs) So that’s how I started, and from there on I knew that was what I wanted to do. There was really no question for me

I thought I would be too small, but I got help from a lot of the old-timers. Being small was actually an advantage. I could get into a lot of tight, small spots to build things.
