I'd say those guys up north 280 miles off the lake are probably the favorite. They played for the title a year ago, and people forget that we have not won our quarterfinal game very often, so we have to make sure we get that done.

We will be quick and I like the way these guys play. We played very well last year except for one game, where North Hall just took it to us. But as good as we were most of last year, I think this group could be even better this year.

My favorite lake used to be Clear Lake. But I think it is time for a new favorite and Santee is it. Does anyone have any property for sale here?

This year will be interesting (Oak Forest is part of the newly-created SICA North Silver conference. If Eisenhower lost some of their guys, we could have a shot at the title. I guess it all depends on how we handle a game against (the Cardinals).

Last season they (Barcelona) saw the quarterfinal on TV, and this year we must do the same. They can think about the quarterfinal, and we will think about the Premiership and the FA Cup.

We had to play flawless and we didn't. But we played strong. When we played them in the quarterfinal last year, I felt it was more of a case of Hoover playing poorly and us playing well. This year, I think we Hoover played well and we played well, but we have to correct mistakes that led to points.

This team is poised to make a big run starting with this week. We've not played a meaningful game in a month. Guys are just ready to get out there and play a meaningful game with title implications behind it.

I think it means that everybody is even. I don't think there was a clear favorite when we started and you can see that now. No one is a clear-cut favorite and no one's really out of it, yet. The last two years you weren't able to win the Lake Region with a loss. This year I don't necessarily think that will be true.

Last year was one of my most enjoyable years of coaching. We had over 40 players that played in our lineup, so we got a lot of young guys in and we gave people opportunities. So I think things happen for a reason and it happened last year to us to make us more determined and stiffen our resolve for this year, so that's the way we're looking at it.

We were able to make some big strides, and we weren't overmatched against North Carolina, we just made some errors that really hurt us. I was very proud of our effort.

Everybody worked together to make the receivers better. Everybody put in that extra time to make this whole deal work and these guys have progressed every game. Last year was our first year in the system and people dogged us in certain ways but sometimes you've got to give people a chance.

Every match is big down here, but if you win your quarterfinal, you're guaranteed a spot on the podium. We've been in a lot of tournaments and a lot of quarterfinals, so we've just got to treat it like another quarterfinal.
