The increase in e-filing is really being driven by people using their home computers. E-file is the safe, accurate way for taxpayers to quickly finish their taxes and get a refund.

So we're certainly concerned. We're watching the situation closely, but at the present time the system's functioning as it's designed and we're being reasonably successful in managing flows.

What they are doing is living beyond their means. When tax time comes they figure 'I don't have the money so I'm not going to file.' That thinking is wrong because there is also a penalty for late filing. If you just file the return you eliminate one of the penalties.

Whether they choose to let pros prepare their taxes, or try the latest computer assistance, or go it alone with pen and calculator, Americans are paying a dear price in money and time because of our complex tax system. Recent tax relief laws have helped many taxpayers keep more of the money they've worked for all year, but the work of filing their federal returns at tax time has become a tiresome chore.

We have been trying to get the word out all filing season. We know that April 15th certainly stands out as the usual filing date. But we want to make sure that everyone knows they have longer this year and know what the correct deadline is.
