I think that the (high price) environment is poised to last for the next four to five years...because of the lack of the supply. You can't snap you fingers and bring new mines on.

You do not come back from those depths just by making some shifts here and there and cherry-picking a few issues you think are popular. It just isn't that easy. The notion that you can just snap your fingers after falling from the high 60s to the low 30s, that you can give a speech, propose some infrastructure spending and say some things that you think pull you back to the center is naive in the extreme.

The change is happening, but you can't just snap your fingers and say it is fixed.

The U.S. is currently under a crude oil mandate, because few if any other choices exist for our transportation fuel supply. Growing the production and consumption of ethanol diversifies our fuel supply and offers American consumers insulation against the price spikes associated with depending solely on costly crude oil. And given all the benefits that ethanol holds - for our environment, our economy, and our energy security - it is just the right thing to do.
