This is a growing market, and you'll absolutely see more of these types of deals in the future.

We continue to feel that overall buying patterns in the mid-market space are resulting in customers purchasing larger-scale ERP solutions, with multiple products and longer deployment cycles. In the future, this will likely extend revenue recognition for similar types of deals.

This recognition by Deloitte clearly demonstrates the growing market acceptance of FTS' solutions. Furthermore, in the last quarter of 2005, FTS signed new deals amounting to about $15m. FTS is capitalizing on service and content providers' moves to next generation products, while providing traditional operators with state-of-the-art solutions that address their current needs with a clear roadmap for the future.

The proper approach is to have a long-term strategy that has a balance of different types of investments in the portfolio, so that it's built in that it deals with changing market conditions.

But this also shows that there aren't sufficient deals in the market and people are placing a higher valuation on companies that they invest in. This is fine as long as the market is growing, as it did last year. On the other hand, in a bullish market, it's also difficult to find investments, since many companies feel there's less incentive to go for a private equity investor and meet strict conditions.

In a market that is so short of opportunities ... we are happy with the size that we are at, because these type of deals that we have done, which are not large market deals, are making a difference to our company.

This is a healthy looking market. It's not just energy deals that are working but some tech deals also. There certainly is a better tone in the stock market than a month ago.

I think we're going to see some more deals of this sort in future months, as AOL expands its presence in the broadband market.

At this point we're completely focused on market share. We put that focus into three areas. The broadband market saw the high-speed ways of accessing the Internet. The wireless market, especially wireless Internet. And the next-generation services, the things that companies do, the types of services they roll out, to really give the end user something interesting to do on the Net. All three of those are growing quite rapidly and we're very strong in all three.

They have to take the additional step of explaining the reason everyone does these types of deals is because it's pro-competitive, ... The government argues that other companies [make these deals because they] are driven to the wall to stay alive, that they're driven to these desperate measures because Microsoft forced them to.

Prices paid by residential property investors are still growing, but at a much slower rate than was seen during the heady days of mid-2004 when investors had to compete with owner-occupiers in a busy market with limited stock available. The recent cut in interest rates should encourage landlords to expand to their portfolios as there are still good deals to be negotiated while the owner-occupier market remains relatively slow.

Me-too deals will occur or at least be proposed but hopefully the market will prevail and tell managers such deals won't be executed.

If in fact there's a higher demand for deals, you'll be paying retail instead of wholesale. And if the market gets a little fluffy, you will see questionable deals as well.
