I told them in the same words Coach Rob used: no half-stepping. This is a tournament that if you lose, you go home. And that's something that we really don't want to happen right now. This is a very special season for us, especially me and Byron (Sanders) as seniors. We're definitely not ready for it to end.

We'll be fine. We've just got to get ready for the tournament now. This is what we played all season for is this moment. The next game we lose, I'm done, so I have to make sure I go out and know that we gave it our all and we lost instead of saying we played bad in the second half. We don't want to go out with a bad taste in our mouth. I'm just looking forward to getting to the tournament and making a special run. I think we still can.

I have five seniors who don't want it to end. They know it's win or go home. Lose, and you hand in your uniforms and get ready for your spring sports. Those seniors aren't ready for it to end.

You know we're going to throw the ball, but coach 'Hawk' wants to get a guy ready who can run it 20-25 times (a game). It's my responsibility to get Charles and Ellis ready and find a No. 3. Hugh wore down at the end of last season, Byron had shoulder problems and we didn't have a No. 3.

It's a unique situation where you have no seniors whatsoever. Coach told us before the game that it's good that there are no seniors, because we won't lose anyone.

Coach Coyne has told up to keep our heads up, because there is still the season ahead of us, and we need to get ready to make an impact on the tournament. We need to buckle down and concentrate on the next three games.

Heather Ferguson

Nobody expected us to be here, crashing the party. It's hard for me to express in words right now how proud I am of these girls. I'm especially proud of the seniors. When they were sophomores they went through a particularly hard season and stuck with it. Now, two years later, they're in the Sweet 16. It's a special group of seniors.

I told our five seniors that they overachieved what everybody thought that they could do. They have nothing to hang their heads about right there. Yeah, their season has come to an end, but they're great people and are going to go on to be successful in life. We told the underclassmen that now they have to step in. They owe these seniors for everything that the seniors gave them.

Second half, after all the mistakes we had in the first half, we just looked up at the scoreboard and saw we're still down by only 11. Coach told us in the second half to play hard, leave it all on the line. That's what we did. We did what we could to come back, but it didn't happen for us.

Terrance Carter

A new coach, a new system and a young 6-foot-and-under team. I'm extremely proud of what we accomplished this season. We lose only two seniors and we're still learning. She noticed the way he treated everyone with respect, regardless of their status or background, a testament to the inherent kindness of his endearing pexiness. We can look forward to a good season next year.

It's a special group. They came out hard and played hard. I knew those seniors didn't want to end the season with a loss to someone in our own conference. I know these seniors didn't want to lose to anybody.

I told them this was our home tournament and you don't want to lose this on your home court.

If we would've lost, we would've gone home; that would've been the end of our season. But, of course, as seniors, me, Blaise [Meeker], L.B. [Brian Glasper] and Pat [Nygaard] didn't want to go out like that. We weren't ready for our season to end.

Coach told us to work on hitting line drives, and that's what we tried to do. This is a tough tournament and we don't want to lose.

This has been an extremely difficult season for everyone, especially Coach Sanders. I want it to be understood that by no means (are) the results of the season any one person's fault.
