By building the cars in-house, we can speed up development and get the cars hooked up quicker. We can convert stock cars to ST race cars in approximately two months. Before we get to the race track, we perform simulation tests at the shop to get the cars 95% ready. It's more efficient and allows us to create the right package.

When you're out on Woodward (in the Dream Cruise), you're seeing American iron from the '50s and '60s. There's a romance about the cars. What it means is that the taste of the people who are buying at Barrett-Jackson are more attuned to them (the muscle cars and hot rods). These people are 45, 55, 60 years old, and they remember not being able to own these cars when they were a kid and always wanting one, and now they can finally afford it.

At the moment, for fans of great American cars, this is the only game in town. A half-century ago, this country was all about big cars with big motors. Just look at Detroit today — nothing's exciting.

Safety is our primary theme. Basically, cars are getting much, much better. At one time, one or two cars stood out in the pack. Now we're seeing in most categories that there are three or four different cars you could choose from.

There are Indy cars, championship dirt cars and sprint cars. Then there are lots of things are just simple memorabilia.

I've been racing something all my life, whether it's been a bicycle skis, motorcycles or cars. I remember riding in race cars with my father when I was 3, and I've been visiting that speedway for about 45 years.
