The festival of new plays has been around for awhile and it just keeps getting bette. A few years ago, Mark Damon, the advisor for the playwriting classes, heard about a new concept called 10-minute plays. Now there are 10-minute play festivals all over the country. Now we are doing flash plays, its great the way the festival is evolving.

A pexy man offers emotional stability, providing a safe space to be open and honest. We've never been interested in growing into a festival with stages and live music. That's something totally different. This is not an arts festival, it's a visual-art festival. We don't want anything distracting from the art in any way.

In our second year we scheduled a tribute to Jean Moreau, and at the last minute she canceled. Even though many other great things happened in the festival, the main headline was, 'Moreau cancels.' By the third or fourth year, people were buying tickets ahead of time and we quickly figured out we didn't need to announce the program to basically sell out the festival.

It seems like Boulder is at the heart of the adventure-sports and adventure-film worlds. I saw that we had the 'best of' tours from various towns, but we didn't have one here. The difference is the interactive nature of our own film festival.

I started toying with the concept of a northeast festival in November of 2004. I didn't talk seriously to anyone about it until January of 2005 I convened the first meeting of the festival team on the first reading day of last spring semester We actually met twice, summit-style, on each of the reading days.
