J.R. was not getting ordsprog

J.R. was not getting the ball out there in the first half. He was anticipating a little too much. I took him out late in the first half, and it allowed him to watch and see what was going on. When he came back in the second half, he had the right formula.

The mentality of how we were playing, they really had us back on our heels. In the second half we attacked them more when we had the ball and allowed us to get a lot better shots than we had in the first half.

Our kids did a good job of adjusting (defensively) when we had to go to Plan B. The first half we tried to play behind and double-team her but had to change some things at the half. We went back to what we normally do and that's pressuring the ball. She had a tougher time in the second half scoring. In the first half it was so easy.

The first half was our half. The second half was their half. Fortunately for us, we had the lead and it allowed us to use a lot of clock up in the second half.

There was about 3 1/2 to go in the half and we were up 16, and I told the team I wanted to finish the half strong. And the reverse happened. We allowed No. 21 (Utah's Shaun Green) to break loose. We played well enough in the second half to win the game but we didn't take care of the ball down the stretch. Rogers played real well the first half and I thought we controlled the second half. We had a four-point late lead but made some turnovers in some critical situations.

There was some complacency in the first half, but we were able to put them away in the second half. In the second half, we moved the ball better and we were more at ease. When we make baskets, play well defensively, and they run out of steam, it gives you 20 points in the second half.

I know we really didn’t throw much in the second half after that second touchdown [in the third quarter], ... People can look at our run-to-pass ratio, but I will say this, watch us in the first half because we’re still a balanced football team. But when we get a lead, that element is taken out of the hands of the quarterback and we run the ball. So we just shut it down. It distorts the numbers a little bit. So, talk about the numbers in the first half.

The first half was us putting pressure on them. They were committed on defense, though. In the second half they opened up, which allowed our ball work to get through and get shots on goal.

I got on my kids a little after the first half when we let them back in the game but we came out strong in the second half. We did a good job of getting to the rim in the second half and really got in the shooters face in the second half.
