I think last year was a good year for stocks, I think this year was extremely difficult until recently.

Those resources stocks were starting to look stretched after a really good year last year, so all it takes is a drop in commodities across the board for them to come off. Some stocks will benefit, though, particularly the manufacturers as their costs go down.

Bonds may find it difficult to rise as stocks are looking strong toward the year-end. Japan may have stable growth next year, leading to higher yields.

For sure, it's the best year I've ever had. We had a really good cash year, and sometimes it's difficult to follow that up with a provincial title, which we were able to do. So definitely this has been a pretty good year for us -- so far.

This tendency to look year by year is extremely myopic. There is a certain degree of variability . . . whether the bullet hit the arm or the heart; whether the victim reached the ER in time. It makes it very difficult to interpret the changes.
