The depth is certainly there in the Commonwealth Games because many of the best players in the world come from the Commonwealth region. They take it very seriously. Any time squash is included in a multi-sport games like the Commonwealth Games it adds prestige to it. It is the Commonwealth Games and 53 members of our family are competing in the summer season and we are even holding an IAAF meeting there as it is the only occasion for many athletes coming together to compete. (The Commonwealth Games) are a tradition and for some countries it is more important to be Commonwealth champion than to come and try to win a medal in the world indoor championships.

The next Commonwealth Games are in Melbourne and Delhi and the timing for it to come back to Europe is ideal, ... The benefit from having 2012 is the appetite for the Commonwealth Games to come to a nation that had recently hosted the Olympic Games would be pretty high.

It has been an exciting year (2005) for me, and now, I am looking forward to doing well in the Asian Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. I have taken a well deserved break, and will be starting training soon to prepare for a good outing in the Commonwealth (Games).

I never say anything is impossible. But I am just focusing on reaffirming what I did at the Commonwealth Games. I am here to learn from all of my races and see what I can do after such a big program at the Commonwealth Games. I haven't had a chance to come down from my achievements.

When I was a kid, you came to the Florida games and it wasn't a matter of if they were going to win. It was a matter of how badly they were going to win. The talent we have on this team and the coaches we have, there's no reason that shouldn't be the expectations here.

It's a long time since we've had a heavyweight in a Commonwealth Games gold medal fight, or any medal for that matter.

Coaches always say during the year that it's a big game, but you kind of blow it off because it's a long season. The games in December matter just as much as the ones now. I am in two minds about it (the criteria). I think basing selection on world rankings is a bit harsh. I can understand Swimming Australia wants to set the bar fairly high, but I don't think it should be at the expense of a Commonwealth Games medal. I am a fan of choosing the team based on Commonwealth rankings.

Ultimately, we're looking for strong swims to set us up for sectionals. We did that (in this meet). A lot of guys had great swims on the varsity level.

My dad swims with me in the morning. He swims with old buddies of his. I've always had connections with swimming through my dad. My dad always tells me to reach at the finish. He's always, always reminding me.
