The first two minutes of the second half we were a different team. We've been a good defensive team. That's who we are and who we've been.

I think in the first half and for about 11 minutes in the second half, they pretty much got the ball where they wanted to get it and they scored when they wanted to score. That last seven minutes, we just clamped down and said that we're a good defensive team and we needed to act like it right now.

We haven't been able all year as a team to put together 40 quality minutes. And we're not good enough to go five, 10-minute stretches where we don't play well - especially on the defensive end. They jumped on us in the second half and they had the momentum. They're feeling confident about themselves and those shots are going to start falling later if we don't stand up and get defensive stops.

I'd like to apologize for the first five minutes of the game. After both teams settled down, I thought we made some really good defensive stops -- we were able to hold that team to 30 percent in the first half.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. We executed on the half-court in the first half pretty good against a good defensive team. We passed the ball well, played very unselfishly.

Our team is not playing enough of a 48-minute game and that's the disappointing thing. We know it's tough to win road games. This was a hot team team we were playing, give them credit. But you can't play 18-20 minutes of a second half and expect to beat any NBA team.

For about 24, 25 minutes we played real hard. They just have so many good players. That's the difference between their team and our team. They have seniors who are real athletic, real experienced. Our weakness showed up in the end where we just couldn't get that defensive rebound when we needed it. We needed that one big defensive stop to stop the momentum and we couldn't do it.

They're a good defensive team, and the reason they're a good defensive team is because they have a shot-blocking presence (Wyoming forward Justin Williams) who's one of the best in the nation who can erase any mistakes. When you have somebody like that, you can gamble a little bit and get up into your guy.
