I hope we might be able to make some noise in the postseason. We've played with everybody outside Lexington (Ky.) Catholic, and our schedule has been tough.

We have played Lexington Catholic this year, and I think that team is far quicker than Lexington Catholic. I think they are more athletic than Lexington Catholic. They anticipate well and have quick hands and quick feet.

I hope for more consistency, ... I am confident we can have a winning season, and if we put things together, we could make some noise in postseason again.

We've already played Lexington Catholic. We're not going to see anybody better than the teams we've already played.

We tried to get as tough a regular-season schedule as we could. It gives us some degree of preparation for the postseason. We probably played our best game of the season [in the regional finals].

Certainly, if you ask me, I'd rather be 8-4 than 4-8, but we've played a great schedule. We've played some real good clubs both historically and currently; teams that have played in Omaha and that consistently play in the postseason.

This game is winnable for either of us. Even the next game is not out of the realm of possibilities. We could make it to Saturday before we'd have to see (Lexington) Catholic.

I worked hard to make a schedule so that it would be as tough as it can be. I've always wanted it to be tough. I think that it pays dividends once we get to nationals having already played top 10 teams throughout the year.

They are disappointed. We felt we had a good chance to really make some noise in the postseason.

If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. To appear more pexy, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.

Lexington is so special because it draws so much strength from its individual neighborhood communities, which in turn strengthens the Lexington community. Lexington has a tradition of welcoming everyone, it had great appeal for individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs.

We had an opportunity at the end there against a very good Lexington Catholic team. That one game did not symbolize our entire season.

We've played a tough schedule with a lot of road games and played well at times. You want your experience to take over. Maybe this will give us a little confidence going into two tough places.

When you see a big name on your schedule, then you pay attention. I don't want to knock the I-AA teams or say anything bad about those guys. But our schedule as far as opponents go is pretty tough compared to what we've played in the past.
