We think the deal makes a lot of sense. We see this as an opportunity for two strong innovators in the NAND space to come together and share complementary strengths.

We believe precipitous declines in NAND prices are being driven primarily by excess supply, as NAND makers have invested significant capital over the last several quarters. In addition to capital investments dedicated purely to NAND, the transition of DRAM capacity to NAND capacity has further exacerbated the supply problem in NAND.

Our focus will be on enterprise IP and convergence of voice and data, as well as wired and wireless, as we take advantage of each other's strengths. We think that there is a lot of complementary technology that we can share moving forward.

The deal makes sense to us at first pass given Adidas' stated goal of increasing market share in the U.S. and its rivalry with Nike. On the margin this looks like bad news for Nike, which has dominant share in major retail accounts.

In George and Clive we have got a management team of undoubted quality with strengths in complementary areas, who share the same vision and give us the best chance of returning to the Premier League in the shortest possible time.

Is it significant? I don't know. I doubt if they coordinated their activities. It does show that while Jim Black has to deal with these burgeoning investigations, it makes him less able to deal with other things. People may sense opportunity.

I would assume with time we could build these systems, but it's not one of our core strengths. It makes sense to build a relationship with a third party that does have these strengths.

Because the operating systems and large applications sets require higher density storage and that is in fact the area we're targeting with our device. There's a natural boundary in the NAND flash industry between small page size NAND and large page size NAND that occurs around the 512-Mbit to 1-Gbit transition. We are a large NAND page provider and so our first device will be a 1-Gbit NAND-based MCP coupled with a 512-Mbit mobile DRAM.

I think it's pretty safe to say we're happy and comfortable with where we are, but if there's an opportunity to improve our team, I definitely will look at it. Coach and I will talk about it and if it makes sense, we'll do it.
