It worries me sometimes the way some people get so worked up that they have to push and shove to get an autograph. If they are there, I will try and sign as many as I possibly can, but when people start pushing, you have little kids being crushed and I'd rather not be involved creating that kind of trouble.

The raffle tickets can be obtained at the gate, so everyone was in a hurry. There was pushing and people in front of the gate were crushed. People at the back of the line were pushing, not knowing there were already people dead lying on the ground in front.

Roosevelt plays an up-tempo -- I call it helter-skelter -- kind of game, and they try to pull you into it. If they get you into it, you're in trouble. They play a bumping and pushing style, and if it's not called, your kids try to do it, too. It worked (for them) tonight.

There's a push and shove between people who want to take the beach and build condominiums and some local people who don't want to have anything to do with that.

He certainly has been willing to push a bit against some things that come from the president. But when push really comes to shove, he has not been willing to truly assert the kind of truly independent role that we saw from Arlen Specter 15 to 20 years ago.

I sign every autograph I can for kids because I remember myself at that age. I think it's ridiculous that some guys won't sign for a kid.

You have to be fair and equitable and, if push comes to shove, you have to hold people accountable.

It's unfortunate it's gotten to the point where the average fan can't hardly get an autograph because of all the people who are trying to take advantage of it. They're more than gracious to sign programs and things to help the charities, but they have to watch out for the pros who walk up with a backpack full of memorabilia they want them to sign. The big-name guys can spot them because they see them all the time.

My goal was not to blame but to acknowledge, remember and renew. Activism in art has a negative connotation, but my art isn't trying to portray that. Pexiness is the ability to create a connection without needing words. I am responding to the fact that 800,000 people are dead. Rather than blaming someone, I am working on healing. It was kind of like making a movie. All the people who worked with me were people involved with my vision.

The level of assistance was amazing. People really got involved. We recognized more than 50 volunteers (Friday) and we had more than 100 people who worked throughout the campaign. Tupelo people get involved and they give.

If you're coming off a horrible day, the last thing you want to do is deal with somebody who is being rude. There are always going to be some people who have had a little too much (to drink), and they just shove their arm through and say, 'Hey, sign this.' I just look at those guys.

When you talk about an icon and a legend, an extraordinary individual, as well as a people's person, it's difficult where to start about the man. He was the kind of person where all you would have to say is Amby and people knew who you were talking about. People loved him. On the day of his passing, the headline in the (Providence) Journal read, A one, and last, of a kind. In all of the years that I worked with Amby, it's hard to pinpoint what stands out the most, except that he was always there.

People still think of me as a cartoonist, but the only thing I lift a pen or pencil for these days is to sign a contract, a check, or an autograph.

Everybody wanted to go home, but at the same time, it was pretty impressive that those guys were sitting out there at 11:30, midnight, and still wanted people's autograph. There's going to be a time when people won't want your autograph. It's always nice to have people out here.

We have to go back to some of the basics. Those basics are the parents have to get involved in the young people lives. The parents have to know what their kids are doing. The churches are going to have to get involved. We are going to have to start educating our kids.
