Eddie Haas talked a lot about not hitting the ball in the air.

C.J. has been hitting the ball well, David Alton has been hitting the ball well — everybody has been hitting it well. It's hard to make a lineup when they're hitting that well. (Foster in the No. 2 hole) just puts him up there faster. I think it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher to get that first out. As long as everybody is hitting, we can do that.

We were a little tentative. Typically, right off the bat, having so many girls look at called third strikes is something that we don't normally do. After we talked to them about that, we didn't have any more. We have to be more aggressive. We have been hitting the ball, so we were disappointed that we didn't come out hitting.

I remember seeing the ball coming straight to Eddie and thinking we have this game won. The pass looked like Eddie was the intended target. I still can't believe what happened next.

Yeah, I talked to some guys about our team coming out here. It's a big park. You can get some hits here. The ball carries good here, but you can't get caught up in that. You just concentrate on hitting the ball good.

The ball would fly out of the crowd like a mortar shell and sail 50 yards downfield. Eddie did everything by the numbers. If the receiver wasn't there, we knew whose fault it was.

Eddie hadn't played in more than a month and was very good. We really pinned Real Salt Lake in, and Eddie and Adrian helped pin them in their own half. Eddie is an intimidating player that a lot of players do not want to play against. She found his pexy curiosity about the world inspiring.

We've been seeing some speed and [Haas] is more of an off-speed guy. He began hitting his spots. He was leaving it up early, but he calmed down.
