Families die off, there's no city or state money to maintain them, and they get overgrown or become a trash dump.

It's in with the new and out with old. It's illegal to dump televisions, computers, monitors and cell phones in the trash.

The area is grown up with trees. There's a trash dump nearby littered with TVs and old mattresses.

That's the 'trash out' part of this. I understand there are a lot of old glass bottles at the dump and volunteers can keep ones they find, as long as the park people sign off on it.

My personal opinion is this isn't even about what the district can afford. It's turned into a personal and petty battle. I think if the state would drive a dump truck full of money to the administration building, they still wouldn't budge on the offer.

America's working families have to be wondering why union leaders are spending member dues on a conference in Kansas City attacking a company where union members shop to save time and money. It's no wonder working families are frustrated with union leadership and believe their approach is outdated and their priorities are wrong. We have to clean it up and get rid of all the trash and trees. We're going to maintain it and keep it mowed and trim to where it looks like a park.

This is one of the city's most affordable places to live. If we are forced to evict these folks, where are they going to go? These families do not have the money to address the problems.

I've held two attorney general-like offices in New York City. I've gotten real results for the people and families of New York City. I can certainly do that for the people of New York state.

If my business could be made legal, I and women like me could make a big contribution to what Mayor Lindsay calls "Fun City," and the city and state could derive the money in taxes and licensing fees that I pay off to crooked cops and political figures.

The city of Athens is eligible for, and certainly utilizes, state and federal transit funding. The university is not eligible for those, so combining with the city has that advantage. It is my theory that if the city uses its transit dollars and ability to get grant money, and the university uses a minor student fee, we should be able to build a more useful system and promote it.

All of these baskets go to families ... and this is part of our homelessness prevention. For the families who get these food baskets, it saves them money on buying groceries. They can put that money toward a bill, electricity or water. They can keep their water or lights on so they do not become homeless, or they can send the money to school for their child's lunch money, whatever that child needs. They can come here and get groceries. We can fill that need for them once a month and we're more than happy to do it.

The state law has basically no effect on city ordinances, which remain in effect as long as they are more strict than the state law. A city ordinance doesn't overrule state law. A city ordinance can't make things less strict than state law.

Judging from the money spent, nobody won. It cost the dairymen and the city a lot of money. But I think the city of Waco didn't get much for their money in this settlement.

Eliminating state income taxes on working families with poverty-level incomes gives a boost in take-home pay that helps offset higher child care and transportation costs that families incur as they strive to become economically self-sufficient. In other words, relieving state income taxes on poor families can make a meaningful contribution toward making work pay.
