For the last two-three years, you didn't feel you had a permanent school. Now the kids should feel they have a permanent home. I think this will help pride come back. This is something the kids will be proud of.

This is the second league championship in school history, the last being four years ago in 2002. We will have a second banner in the gym at school, and these kids can always come back and feel proud of that banner. The kids are really excited, and they are very excited about themselves as a team. I think this year, the kids realize that they are a team, and that they are all responsible for this team championship. We have gotten tremendous contributions from every one of our kids.

I think that this is more real. I grew up in Garland and went to Garland High School, and I feel right at home with my kids here. I look at these kids like they are my kids. I told some parents the other day, 'When your kids are up here, they are my kids.' That the way I feel about it.

Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

The players really like the idea of having a permanent home where the team can feel comfortable, get more support from the fans and where our opponents will feel uncomfortable,

It's important for kids to feel good about coming to school. It helps build pride in the school. I'm awfully big on school spirit.

I feel so proud that I came out here and did something that I said I was going to do. It's amazing how far our program has come in the past five years. And if I didn't have some of those kids pushing me at practice, I don't think I would have ever done this.

It's a case-by-case situation. Our goal is to provide permanent housing ... and we offer services for permanent residency for wherever they want. Nobody knows for sure, but I don't know of another school that won a state football title in only its fourth season. The kids worked extremely hard and they will be able to come back and have a permanent reminder that hard work pays off.

To me, it's part of the success of the program, placing as many kids in school as we possibly can. It makes you feel proud of the kids and where the program's come.

I didn't want my child to have to make that transition to a new 'big, scary school' before he had to. Kids at that age have to deal with enough difficult transitions. . . . I feel the less they have the more secure they feel.

I really think it's dangerous for the NBA this year. A lot of NBA scouts are starting to feel comfortable with high school kids. Having seen most of these kids for the last three years, I can tell you that each one of these guys has major flaws in their game that the NBA is either willing to overlook right now or don't have a handle on.

I bought this cabin as a vacation escape some 20 years ago. I knew one day I'd make this my permanent home, a place to raise my children. I feel blessed, I've managed to make my dream come true.

The way that this school is able to get kids to play at championship levels speaks volumes about the area and the type of kids that go to the school. Anybody can say they want to do it, but it takes pride, dedication and the will to work to actually get it done. And these kids believe in getting the job done.

It's good to get back on top after two years of Grand Ledge winning. I'm here to teach the kids, and it makes me feel better when the kids have success.
