They were one of those kind of teams you can't let hang around. That's what we talked about at halftime.

We wanted to focus on the defensive end of the floor. When you hold a team to 49 points, that's always pretty good. The thing we really talked about at halftime was even though we were up 12, in past games, the 12 went to 10 and 8, and we let those teams hang around. We wanted to push that 12-point lead to 15 and 18, and concentrate on attacking.

Special teams was huge; we talked about it all week. I talked about (it). Keith Burns talked about, and those guys came up with some huge plays on special teams, when you can get that kind of field position against that kind of football team, you've got to capitalize.

We talked at halftime that we have to learn to put people away. We had a big tendency last year to get a 10-, 17- point lead and let everybody hang around. We came out with a lot more intensity and it showed.

They made plays, we didn't. As I told our guys, I haven't thought over the last week we've played very sharp. We've let teams hang around. This is a confidence league. Teams like this have the ability to beat you any given night. We kind of let them hang in and they made big shots down the stretch.

We're similar in regard to the record, but we're different types of teams. We play a little different style. We haven't talked about that at all. I think our team has kind of flown under the radar, even though we're 22-0. We're probably one of the least-known undefeated teams that's ranked No. 5 in the state. I like that. I think it's because our kids and I never talked about being undefeated. That was never our goal. We weren't even picked to win the conference.

We talked about withstanding their initial run, the first five minutes (after halftime), when they put a lot of teams away in this building. We told the kids at halftime that the first thing we wanted to see was for them to compete in this kind of situation. We didn't want to hang our heads. We wanted to go out and play as a team.

To rebound from losing to Mansfield on Monday and to be down 10-3 at halftime, it would have been an easy thing for them to pack it in. We talked about some things at halftime and put it on their shoulders to come out in the second half and do it, and they did it one goal at a time. I'm really proud of them.

I never talked about numbers with our people, ...
