The teams could try ordsprog

en The teams could try to individually justify their decisions, but if you look at it collectively, you can't help but reach the conclusion there's a double standard. Because for every person that was hired, there was a minority candidate as strong, if not stronger, that was overlooked. Things would normally even out over time a little bit, but the fact that it was 0 for 8 raises some concern.

en We're disappointed. Disappointed, but not deterred. You can't look at the hires collectively and not reach the conclusion that there's a double standard and there isn't a level playing field.

en It is our responsibility, individually and collectively, to make good decisions. As engineers, the machines we build can do great things but can also cause great harm.

en Absolutely, there is a significant disparity of treatment in the way the criminal justice system handles these things. Unfortunately, there's a double standard because there is a double standard in society. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines.

en Unfortunately, recovering from something like a reset is a slow, lengthy process. You don't know what caused the problem, and the immediate concern is that whatever triggered it will do it again next time you try it. The thing you have to do is fire up each of the rover's capabilities one at a time, checking each one carefully and individually to see whether it would cause another reset or not. Standard spacecraft troubleshooting practice…but it takes time.

en Truth always rests with the minority, and the minority is always stronger than the majority, because the minority is generally formed by those who really have an opinion, while the strength of a majority is illusory, formed by the gangs who have no opinion -- and who, therefore, in the next instant (when it is evident that the minority is the stronger) assume its opinion... while truth again reverts to a new minority.

en I like to describe it as business decisions that made a lot of sense individually added up to make some not-so-good sense collectively.

en We have some mentally tough individuals on this team. They've been stepping up all year. I have a strong feeling about these guys individually and collectively.

en I think that the NHL is ripe to have some franchises move. Hartford is a viable area when it comes down to that. To be in the Northeast, in New England, with hockey, is viable. I think the economics of the league have stabilized. They're not perfect, but they're a heck of a lot better than they were. I wouldn't draw the conclusion that Hartford can't work. In fact, I think I'd draw the opposite conclusion. I think it's a much stronger location than several of the cities that are currently hosting NHL teams. And I know that there's a lot of talk about franchises moving around. I don't think it's a slam dunk, but I think it's very viable.

en We've just been doing the things we have to do individually and collectively in the system we play. People are playing their roles.

en During the spring we wanted to give every player the experience to show what they could do in game situations. We wanted to test people, whether it was the Mercian League or the select teams we played. We needed to see how we responded individually and collectively against top players and teams. We were happy to see how we responded as a team.

en I want to let things unfold, without trying to reach a conclusion prematurely. I will remind myself that it doesn't matter what the conclusion is ... and that if it seems to matter, I'm not living MY truth.

en It would be almost humorous if the consequences weren't so bad. I have talked to so many people who have given up on our schools and here was Peebles, a person who maybe was abrasive but who obviously wasn't giving up. It doesn't matter what the board says. They either hired the right person and they didn't like what she was doing, or they hired the wrong person. Either way, the school board has failed.

en That's a very difficult fine line for that person to walk. It raises concern as to what's going on.

en We hired him to be decisive, we hired him to be a leader, we hired him to make decisions and to take Iowa State to the next level. And he's doing his job being a leader.
