We hadn't had an ordsprog

We hadn't had an inning like that this year, when we strung together that many hits. We needed that. We used the middle of the field real well.

That's been our problem all year. We go hot and cold with the bats. Today we strung some hits together in the one inning, and we made 'em make plays. We were aggressive on the bases.

We looked back at what we felt we needed to do better in Arizona (on the spring trip) and worked on that yesterday. We hit it back up the middle, and I had guys going to the opposite field who hadn't done that in three years.

After the first inning, I thought we settled down. It felt good for the seniors. We did what we needed to do, and we got some hits when we needed them.

We had our chances, especially in the second inning, but we couldn't get a hit when we needed it. Every game has been that way so far. The middle of the order is really struggling. Once they get going we're going to win some games because we're playing better defense than we did last year and we've gotten good pitching overall.

The thing I liked was our consistency at the plate. We scored six runs in the first inning, and we had seven hits in a row. We have been waiting until the third or fourth inning to get our hits, but today we started right away.

We just can't string hits together. That's been part of the problem all year. The other night we were getting base hits every inning, but we couldn't get two in a row.

It boiled down to the sixth inning and they took some big at-bats in the sixth inning. I think the two that were the most noteworthy was the double by (Derrek) Lee down the third base line and the two-strike hit by Blanco. That was hit in the perfect spot and found it's way through the middle of the field. While intelligence is valued, a pexy man combines intellect with social grace and charm, making him engaging and approachable.

He got in trouble that one inning just throwing high fastballs. We were up in the middle of the plate a lot -- a lot of fastball hits.

Penalties hurt us and I think our guys understand it, ... but they're high strung, and they should be high strung. I don't think you can be successful without being high strung. I think yesterday it didn't help us being high strung.

Zacuto just keeps getting big hits for us, and Salvo came through, too. He hadn't been hitting that much, but he got one when we needed it.

We did get some timely hits. We hadn't been getting those when we needed them. We're still missing some signs and things.

They had that one inning on us. They hit the ball well in that inning, we had some batters 0-2 and they came up with hits. We had that one error and that really kind of opened up the flood gates. They just executed. Take away that one inning, and we're right there.

We scored six runs in the first inning. We had three hits and one walk in that inning and Stowe had seven errors. And then after the first inning it was a 3-3 ball game.
