en It's funny because even to this day, people still know what Little League team they played for. And you talk about it and joke about it. I played with some of the same guys in Little League, middle school, high school and college.

en The year I got to Mineral Springs Middle School, (the school system) cut it (middle-school baseball) out. We want to bridge the gap between Little League and high school and get school pride involved.

en That's the fun part of it all. You get creative when you're in Little League. You're creative when you're in middle school. You're creative in high school and college. And then when you get to the league, this position, the more mobile quarterbacks, we have a tendency to want to become traditional and nervous and panicky in how we want to call plays and put guys in position to make plays.

en I would hope there would be at least three, maybe more. As coaches, we talk about team play, how important it is. This is an opportunity from a league standpoint to show to people - whether it's college kids or high school kids or AAU kids - how important team play really is. It's a very rare opportunity you'd have as a league to maybe put five guys from one team in.

en When you did what we did at school ... it's not like this [Major League] level, but still, winning a World Series in college is a pretty good deal. You're always going to remember that. Obviously, you're going to feel something different for guys that you played with on a team like that.

Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game.

en O.J. was a second-team all-league receiver at Galileo. And DiMaggio played in the sandlots certainly more than in high school.

en I've been clean since I've been in the league, I've been clean since I've been in college, I've been clean since I've been in high school, middle school, elementary school. I'm just cleaner than clean. I'm cleaner than Pine-Sol.

en We played the No. 1 seed (in the High Desert League) and we were the No. 2 seed (in the Sierra League). We weren't able to knock off No. 1 because they played like No. 1. They are well coached, they have talent, and they have played together as a team for quite a while. They showed that they are a true team.

en If you look at the scope of our team, we don't have a lot of guys [who have] played in winning situations. Probably some in high school and college, but the majority not in the NBA. And when you haven't [won], you learn on the fly.

en You know, those guys all rode school buses, those Bluebird school buses to the game when they were in high school and played, ... They got off the bus, put on the pads and played. Maybe we're making too big a deal out of it.

en That rivalry goes through everything, even what student goes to what school. Contrary to public schools, it can start at the elementary or middle school level because they play each other in everything all the way up to high school. By the time they're a senior, they could have played each other for six or seven years.

en I never graduated high school; they had to change the Ivy League rules. During my tenure at Brown, I helped them become the number one Ivy League school.

en The good thing is that I played a lot of high-school baseball against guys who are in college ball. It?s still a big jump. I just come ready to play every day. I have to know two positions defensively. What helps is that I played third, a corner infield position.

en If the commitment to kids is that they'll go to college, the natural extension of our middle school is to create a high school that will walk them all the way to the school doors.
