en It's time for a change and it needs to start right here in the (historically black colleges and universities). Yeah, my hair is low, but if I had locks or twists, I would still be the grade 'A' college student that I am.

en The students and faculty of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities are motivated survivors and self-achievers. We look forward to providing them with effective tools and supportive services that assist them in maximizing their health as they work to transform their communities.

en Many colleges think that as long as they let somebody from Rock the Vote on campus or if they have active college Democrats and college Republicans that they're just fine, ... But the fact is that 41 percent of college students are independent. These partisan groups don't appeal to the nonpartisan folks. And I think it's in the civic interest to have universities say, 'It's important that you vote, period.'

en We believe this commitment to education is a win-win. It helps students and parents pay for college, while strengthening our partnership with colleges and universities.

en The annual auction is the only fundraiser we have. Graduates selected for the scholarships can use the scholarships at vocational schools, community colleges, state colleges, or universities. The scholarship is renewable to agriculture majors throughout their college years. Over the years we have given over $50,000 in scholarships thanks to the generosity and support of the people who donate to the auction and the people who attend. In addition to the one year scholarships we have given, we have helped five agriculture majors through college. The bottom line is all about helping the kids.

en Colleges love to see that their student applicants have been on these academic programs. A student may be at the top of the class but if your good grades are all you have then colleges might think you're too narrow, ... Being in programs like the National Forensic League or Close Up, show that as a student you have a wide range of interests and some experience in different subjects -- it makes you a more attractive applicant.

en I can't trust a white person on my hair because they don't know how to do black hair. They have to prove that they can do black hair or have different races in the salon so people can feel comfortable.

en We aren't sure if it's one person or several people, but the age, height and build do not change. But some described him with black hair, others said he had a shaved head and some said he had sandy hair.
