The kids played very well in the first half. But we didn't play real well in the third.

It was exam week and the kids didn't play all week until Friday. It's a tough week when you take exams every day, then have to play. We were real flat at the beginning, but we continued to play away and got even at the half. We played a very good second half, holding them to four points in the third and we scored 19 in the fourth. That's bad. There's no excuse. That's unacceptable. Our kids played hard. We didn't play smart. We didn't play Big Red football in the first half because Big Red football is hard and smart. I didn't coach smart and we didn't play smart, but we played hard. I think we played very well on offense. We just made some dumb mistakes that's all, including myself.

We didn't get it together in the first half. In the second, Real came at us but we fortunately played better. We may have won but, to be fair, we didn't play well.

At halftime, we really laid into our kids. We didn't play like we have all year for whatever reason. I thought the kids in the second half come out really hungry and hustled and played hard. So whatever we said, I hope I can bottle up and use it again later on.

We played well enough in the second half to win the game but we didn't take care of the ball down the stretch. Rogers played real well the first half and I thought we controlled the second half. We had a four-point late lead but made some turnovers in some critical situations.

The first half we just didn't play very well. It was probably our poorest performance of the season in the first half. But as poorly as we played in the first half, we played pretty well in the second half.

We really didn't get any flow in the second half. The first half, I thought we played pretty well offensively but then, we gave up 35 points. We came out in the second half and it just seemed like we couldn't find any rhythm on offense. We missed some bunnies early. I thought our kids continued to play hard. The most important thing, probably, is next Friday night. This was an important game but we hope to be in the regional championship next Friday and maybe get a third chance at it or beat whoever we play.

They played a zone against us and sagged the whole first half. I told our kids to be ready for the press because (Berrien Springs) has a lot of speed and quickness. They have real good athletes. Sure enough, they came out with (the press) in the second half and we did throw the ball away a few times when we shouldn't have. We also missed some shots. We had some 3-on-1 and some 2-on-1 breaks that we didn't convert.

The kids were disappointed with the outcome, ... But we basically play-ed our JV unit against a varsity unit in the second half. The kids didn't separate or resort to the blame game. They stuck together and played hard, and that is all we ask.

Their approach all week was a real professional one. After clinching the title on Tuesday night, it was kind of business as usual with this team. There wasn't too much of a celebration. The kids were real focused and they played with a lot of energy. They didn't play perfect and we have a lot of things to work on for Tuesday. But they played with a high level of energy.

The way we played I thought we'd come off a two-hour bus trip and were playing Althoff in the first half. We just started real slow and never got in the flow of the game. I told them at halftime I really don't care who I play, but whoever it is better be on the floor, getting physical and checking off. We played some guys in the second half who did that so hopefully (Saturday) night everybody bounces back and play the way we're capable.

I was very pleased with our second-half effort. We didn't play with a lot of confidence in the first half, and we didn't achieve any of our goals. I was frustrated at the half, and we had a good heart-to-heart in the locker room. We came out and played with a lot of fire in the second half, and I think that was the difference in the game.

I can't remember the last time we came out and played that well. We didn't play that well in the first half, but in the second half we played as well as we had all season. When we play like that, we're tough to beat.

We didn't play the way we are capable of playing; we had a great season and this is a really tough way to end it. It's real tough to swallow this one. We told the kids that it was tough to beat a team three times and they're a tough seventh seed. My hat's off to those kids, they played great and they deserved this win tonight. They out-worked us and out-played us.
