Our strength is our defense. We need Chris to get possession of the ball and get it to the offense.

We know Aldine is an aggressive team so we really worked on our transitions this week. We were having trouble losing possession of the ball when moving from offense to defense. So we knew we had to get to the ball first.

We had a lot of play calls for Chris and were trying to get him the ball, but they played great defense. Every time Chris got the ball, they were right in his face, so he really couldn't get anything off.

They are both explosive-type players. Even if the offense is struggling, those two can still break it for you. The fact that they can both take it to the house any time they touch the ball is something every defense has to worry about and account for. Neil and Chris are both very versatile. They can block and run and catch the ball, and they can play a variety of positions. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. They are both explosive-type players. I believe each one has the ability to win 50-50 balls. If they don't win the ball, they do a great job of containing. The rotation and replacing one another is almost second nature now. I also think a good defense can feed off a strong possession game. Our halfbacks are doing a really nice job of controlling and maintaining possession of the ball.

Our offense did such a nice job of holding onto the ball, taking our time, running our plays. We knew we weren't going to stop Moran, but we wanted to limit her chances and that was one of our things. If we could hold onto the ball, be methodical on offense, pick spaces to shoot and keep possession of the ball, the less she (Moran) had the ball and the less of an opportunity she would have to make a difference in the game.

The girls really came out to play, which was nice. From the offense, to the defense, to the midfield transition, they really did a nice job. Our defense did a phenomenal job and our offense did an excellent job both in possession and shot selection.

That's right. Our offense leans further left than Rolling Stone magazine. We know that defense is the Redskins' strength. And they know our offense is our strength. We'll have to strap our helmets on extra tight, and I guess we should wear our face shields since Sean Taylor will be playing.

We still have to hit home on defense. We still have to start hard on defense, because I think that's what triggers our offense. Once we get on offense, we have to take care of the ball. Our turnovers are really what's killing us right now. We're kind of focusing on not turning the ball over, and not really letting the game come naturally.

Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

The best way to counter that is to keep their offense off the field. We have to hold onto the ball on offense and grind it out. Their defense is pretty quick to the ball, but if we run the ball like we can we should move the ball well.

The second half, I told them they have to defend every possession. Don't rest on defense and don't get impatient on offense. If you get behind, you have to be more patient than if you're ahead. We made a conscious effort to work the ball inside, where we had an advantage. Hagen hit those three threes and everybody loosened up.

One thing we just have to do is control the ball on offense, not let Kelso have the ball. That's the easiest way to prevent them from putting points on the board. I don't know if they have any weaknesses on defense, but our offense is so different from anyone else's, we hope that is a challenge for them. That's one of the reasons we picked this offense.

We're going to do our best to maintain possession of the football. It doesn't mean just running the ball, but being efficient in our passing game and play a little keep away. That is part of our plan. But when push comes to shove, we need to play defense against a very good offense, and our guys are ready to do that.
