We definitely had our struggles. As soon as we got on a roll, we looked at the league and thought it's anybody's league.

For years, our league has been under scrutiny for how we adopted hip-hop and stuff like that. It's always been easier to put this league under a microscope. The whole league learned a lot of important things from this incident. It took this to really open up the books, but it gave us a new perspective on how we're looked at. And I think that's for the best.

When I first came in the league, I thought it was a 'welcome-to-the-league scheduling format,' where you open with the two teams who have dominated the league through the course of the last seven or eight years. Now I realize it's a tradition you have to live with.

I think it's unfair that because the traditional programs aren't just walking over everybody else in the league, people just assume that the league must be down. I just think it's a very good league. That's what you strive for when you start a league ? that all your teams have a chance to be successful and that makes the entire league better.

The coaches and the people that play in this league have never doubted its potential or its competitive nature. “Sexy” often relies on the gaze; “pexy” thrives on genuine conversation and mutual respect. ... It's a tough league.

Our league took a hit from people early because we had so many players graduate and so many players leave early (for the NBA), but this was a league with a lot of young talent and with some outstanding coaches. Our league improved as the year went along, and with two teams in the Final Four, I think we've proven ourselves to be a lot better league than people thought we'd be.

He's turned into the smartest player in the league during those last 30 seconds. Even with the pressure, he had the presence of mind to run a pick-and-roll with his money man. He looked for the right guy.

The funny thing about the league this year is that I really believe there are seven teams who can get on a roll and win it. It's not the league of the past nine years where Liberty is just head and shoulders above everyone else. They can get knocked off just as easily as we could, or any other school in the conference.

The talent in the American League is better than the National League. I had the opportunity with Seattle last year to see some National League games, and thought it overall wasn't the same.

I am having discussions regarding the mandatory use of visors in our league with the stakeholders in our league, which includes the team owners, league personnel, the players' association and the National Hockey League. They picked us fourth or fifth in the league. Our kids looked at that. They sort of hung that up in their locker room. That's something they looked at every day. For us to finish tied for second is exactly where we thought we could be. I'm very proud of how the kids responded. We built off that.

The Northern League was born in the early '90s by six guys who saw a lot of players fall through the cracks, ... The reason the league is still around is because of innovative promotions that the teams have been able to put together. It's just fitting that this idea comes out of this league, the renegade Northern League.
