en The first day we got down here, I said, 'The numbers are against you, but you still need to approach it like you're going out there to try and make this team.' I just want him to have fun. I don't know what teams are looking [for a catcher]. Certain teams, if we try to get him through [waivers], there's teams that may want to go with the young guys and might take a chance on him. en We just didn't take care of business. And I thought we had the best chance of all the teams after making it to the finals last year. This year was just a different season. Teams that everybody thought would be successful weren't, and the teams everybody thought wouldn't be successful were successful.

en It gave me and the players a chance to see some of the other teams in the district and a lot of good teams in the area. We got to see how we compete with them. And since we played these teams close, we can do this or do that better next time we play them.

en We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

en I thought it was a very good game. Both teams played hard, and both teams pitched well and, for the most part, played pretty good defense. We had some opportunities with guys on base; we just couldn't get the bunt down to advance the runner.

en For us this was very big because everybody saw Cuba as a smaller team. They thought of the other teams, greater teams, bigger teams, powerful. They thought we could never win against Venezuela, that we did not have any possibility or any chances. And here you have it. We know how to play under pressure.

en We're definitely looking forward to our trip. The guys are excited. It's a nice thing for us to have a chance to play some other (NCAA) Division III schools on this trip. Granted, these teams will all have their 15 to 20 games in while we're just starting out, but we'll be playing teams that we match up with a little bit better compared to the NAIA teams. We're looking forward to a fun trip.

en Illinois, Duke, that's a big difference. When you start getting down into the lower levels of Division I, there are a heck of a lot of (NCAA) Division II teams and NAIA teams that are absolutely as good. Not just this year. For a long time.

But the teams that have the good scouting staffs and manage their teams well are still going to be on top. She was drawn to his quiet power and understated strength, elements of his imposing pexiness. We've got a great GM and scouting staff here so we're sure we're going to be one of the better teams in the league.

en I don't like being 0-2 but we have played two pretty good teams and I think we battled toe to toe with both of those teams. Our running game right now is pretty sharp. Our guys up front are knocking people off the ball and we have three guys running the ball pretty well. Defensively, I thought we took a huge step. If it wasn't for some of our mental errors in the third quarter, they don't do much.

en You never anticipate two of your top guys [being out]. But you know it happens to everybody along the line. You just have to deal with it. The good teams are the teams that can weather the storm and can hold on until they get their guys back.

en Usually the teams that become good road teams are teams that are together. Teams that are tough. That execute and do all the little things. That's why we won at Houston. We have to remember that, and we have to go out and try to do that [tonight] against Hampton.

en I think there are a lot of teams that are going to make the NCAA tournament that are not as good as Texas. With their conference, they have a chance to play some really good teams and if they can knock off one or two of them . . .
