Once again, we are thrilled to be hosting this amazing gathering for LGBT families from across the country. Our families are an important part of the LGBT civil rights battle and they are on the frontlines of educating Americans about the reality of our lives. It is important to give parents and their children a safe place to gather, an opportunity to re-energize and access to the tools we need to create a more just society. I invite everyone who cares about equality for all families to be a part of this historic week.

A full investigation was launched and it appears it [the deaths] simply was a coincidence - a sad coincidence - but, needless to say, it was a coincidence. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness.

Across the country military families are facing dire financial circumstances due to longer than expected tours of duties. They are being penalized for their patriotism - no one should have to choose between doing right by their country and doing right by their families.

Finding a way to pay for college is a difficult struggle facing millions of families across the country. This issue is going to be a hassle for Congress too. Families across the country are struggling to keep up with the largest cuts to student aid in our nation's history.

We're not protesting the president's policies on gay families. We are, however, helping him understand that gay families exist in this country and deserve the rights and protections that all families need.

The truth is that when our families are seen, when our families are visible, it just goes to show how everyday average we really are. We do all the same things that families all across the country do.

His name is part of history, part of Africa, part of being in this country as an immigrant. It signifies people who want to make things better for their life in this country.

I don't want to be defined that way. I don't want to be in a country that takes 12 million human beings who are working, renting, who are trying to raise families, who are a viable part of our economy and turn them into criminals.

For asking questions about the height of the Himalayas, the height of Tibet, the height of the Andes, it's terrific. But if you go to small mountain ranges or small elevation differences, you're probably not going to be able to say much with confidence.

All soldiers who serve their country and put their lives at risk need to know that if something happens to them, their families will be well taken care of. That's the bond we have with our military men and women and their families.

I think we made a clear and definite statement that gay and lesbian families are everywhere in this country, and like all families, we participate in great American events and traditions.

It would be the height of irresponsibility on the part of the president, on the part of this Republican-led Congress, not to make sure that the Congressional Black Caucus has a seat at the table as a strong, genuine partner,

Iraq policy cannot be seen as a partisan issue. The costs to our country have been far too great. No part of our nation remains untouched by this war. The military, the economy, social programs, and most important, our families and communities have all suffered because of this war.

We are proud to be part of a program that will provide important resources to the children of our servicemen and servicewomen, who bravely serve our country and defend our freedom.
