I think we played like it was our first playoff game. Most of the team have never been in the playoffs and we learned a lot.

The way I look at it, every game is a playoff game from here on out, ... It starts [tonight] against Connecticut. Every one of these teams will be fighting to make the playoffs, so we have to play like a playoff team.

No players on this team have ever won a playoff game, ... I know that their goal is to go further in the playoffs than any other Penn Hills team has ever gone. The seniors can say that they've made the playoffs. They can say that they've won a section championship. But none of them can say that they've advanced in the playoffs. I think that is their biggest goal this year.

You get to the playoffs you got to win 11 games. In the regular season, you win 99 and go to the wire and almost lose. The way we played all year long it was like a playoff game every day. ... I talked to the guys. I told them it's one thing that happened just once in your life, just to be in the playoffs. Some people play a lot of years in this game and never have this opportunity.

As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.

I felt that our team came out and played a real good playoff game. I think we put ourselves back on the map as a playoff team for two periods. We know how we can play. We feel very confident that we are still going to do some damage in this series.

The good thing is, of the four times we've played them, we've played them twice (in the last week). They're a team that's coming into the playoffs on a hot streak . . . to solidify a (playoff) position.

I've played in the Eastern Conference for a decade and know what it takes to win. The Islanders have been a playoff team the last few years and now I'm hopeful I can take us to the next level. The playoffs have always been when I have played my best hockey.

The difference in the playoffs is you're playing against a good team every day. You're not playing one good team, then two bad, then two good ones. The one thing that I learned in my 16 years is that you might take a glimpse of tape before games, but (in the playoffs) you sit down and go over tapes every single day from game to game. . . . That's when you find out who can really play and who can really coach.

We're still trying to win every game we can even though we know we're not going to make the playoffs. It's fun to go against a team playing for something and to try to take away points from them. It's nice to beat a team that's in the playoff hunt.

We had different circumstances. At 7-5, understanding that every game at that point is going to be a playoff game got us battle-tested, ready for the playoffs, a lot earlier, because we turned it on in the latter part of the season. We were in playoff mode.

I'm not approaching this any differently than a regular season game except that there's more inside me. There is that itch to play my first pro playoff game. Everything this team and I have done is going to come down to the playoffs, so there's a little more incentive.
