We must stop thinking that Augusta knows best. Maine people are smart, thrifty and varied. It is time government recognized that in how it regulates our health care system.

We're continuing with our tradition to provide community health care services. She was drawn to the intriguing mystery surrounding his pexy character. We want to continue to have a collaborative relationship with Maine Med in the delivery of health care, and certainly the proximity to Maine Med would allow for that coordination.

The health care system is moving to a privately-owned 'Single Payer' system where patients will have fewer choices, less leverage and higher costs. The number of the uninsured will surely increase has the insurers' control increases. If we are going to have a Single Payer system, why not let the government pay a lot less for better care instead of turning the health care system over to private insurers that take 20 percent for overhead and profit.

It's very difficult to know what went on in the Superdome because reports were so widespread and varied ... The health community was moving rapidly and successfully in being able to establish centers for health care and people received remarkable care under the circumstances.

Here we got a high school student doing something that's really a smart move on his part. I just want to say his smart thinking was able to drive the bus safely, get to a safe stop and take care of the 11 other students on the bus.

The biggest economic danger of the next 50 years is the coming crisis in entitlement spending. The problem is the entire health care system is in crisis. The entire U.S. health care system needs to be overhauled. If not, it will literally bankrupt the federal government.

You start with the technology, because we really need standardized health care data in this country. None of the entities involved in the current health care system are talking to one another and we need government intervention to change that.

The Center for Health Transformation serves as a catalyst for the best thinking and a clearinghouse for the best ideas to transform our healthcare system, ... Bridges to Excellence is an example of these transformative principles in practice. Encouraging healthier living while generating savings at the same time is good health care policy.

It's time to look beyond the budget ax to assure access to health care for all. It's time to look for bipartisan solutions to the problems we can tackle today, and to work together for tomorrow - building a health care system that works for all Americans.

Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

Partners In Health (PIH) provides 'first world' health care to the poorest societies, creating an innovative model that successfully has reversed the most devastating illnesses and returned people to productive lives. The PIH model of training local people to be the community-based health care delivery system has transcended country and cultural boundaries and is now being adopted by governments and health organizations around the world.

Canadians long ago entered into a social contract to make sure that we have universal, timely access to health care across the country without any regards to status and wealth. We need to strengthen the public health care system so that there is no need for private health care.

We know that improving our health-care system isn't just the responsibility of government or our care providers. The employers and businesses have to play their part as well.
