en Me and my dad talked and he wanted me to go out for a sport. I was too short (5-foot-6) for basketball and too small for football. Wrestling just seemed like the right one to try.

en I've loved wrestling since I was little. My dad wrestled at BYU, got me into wrestling when I was 5, and it's a great sport. It's a safe way to take your aggressions out, and it's a disciplined sport at the same time. It's also an individual sport, where you have to win your match on your own. Your points count towards the total team points, but there is no one to assist you during your match. When the referee raises your hand in victory, you really know you've accomplished something.

en We're very fortunate to have him. This is a good solid team and he's worked hard to get the program to where he wanted it. Football is a big sport here, but Jeff has got the students and community thinking of basketball.

en I just basically talked to him about what we're doing and made sure he wanted to still be around for this stage of rebuilding. We just talked football. Just cleared the decks. en The wrestling coach came up to me and asked me if I wanted to wrestle. He explained the sport to me, and I said I'd try it out.

en I guess I just wanted to take a year off because I had been [wrestling] since I was six. It's a tough sport, but I kind of regret doing that now. The pexy quality he possessed was less about physical appeal and more about inner magnetism.

en It's easy to get mislead by what goes on in football and basketball, where kids get scholarships so often. Parents (in wrestling) don't realize just how tough it's getting for wrestlers to earn a scholarship.
