We didn't really help ordsprog

en We didn't really help (Capuano) on offense. He was giving us pitches to hit; we just hit them right at people and were trying to pull the ball a little too much.

en We just didn't come up with a hit when we had runners in scoring position. We didn't hit the ball all that well today. Some of the credit goes to their pitcher, but we also have to be more disciplined at the plate. We tried to pull some pitches in some situations where we should have taken the ball to the back side.

en A lot of people were having bad first touches and just not combining well. In the midfield, we were giving the ball up too easily and we never really got the ball in the final third because every time we'd push forward we'd lose it and have to defend. We just couldn't complete five, six or seven passes and open them up. We'd get one or two and get in their defense and just give the ball back. They didn't really pressure too hard. We were just giving it to them.

en It happened very quickly. I didn't make good pitches and I left the ball up. It's very disappointing. The team put a lot of confidence in me, giving the ball in this situation. Everyone in that clubhouse was confident. But we aren't going to walk away hanging out heads.

en When we run reverses and stuff like that, they pull people with them when I have the ball, and I pull people with me when they have the ball. Like I said, all three of us have real fast 40 [-yard dash] times, so our speed in the backfield is pretty good.

en Yes, for most people the spring stats can fool you. But watching the way he's throwing the ball, he's backed off and pitched, not thrown. He's more letting the pitches work for him and letting the ball move for him and locating. He's not trying to overthrow or overpower hitters, but just make his pitches and have them put the ball in play.

en I felt good out there. My first at-bat I struck out looking and wanted to be more aggressive in my next few at-bats. Coach Smoke (Laval) told me to just let it go and try to pull the ball and get my best swing off. My next two at-bats, I got two good pitches to hit and was able to pull them out of the park.

en Daniel was throwing the ball well but he didn't have his location like we hoped he would. Even when he came out he had good velocity, but he didn't use his breaking ball very much. He just didn't locate his pitches, that's all.

en He was above 30 pitches, and that's a lot of pitches for one inning in your first time out. I wanted to protect him. He was underneath the ball a little bit and he didn't have command of his fastball. That's going to happen in his first time out. I just didn't want to make too much of it, get him out and not get him hurt.

en She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first. The offense that makes the most mistakes, that's the team that's going to lose. They had three turnovers, we only had one and it didn't hurt us. In a playoff situation like that, you realize that that is the most important (factor) - being smart with the ball and not giving it to them, because if you do, they're going to take advantage of it.

en He's putting the ball in play, seeing a lot of pitches. He's using the whole field, too. Before, the thing with Jose is that he was pull-conscious. Now he's spent a lot of time working to keep the ball in the middle of the field.

en Ashley is one of the best athletes in the county right now. She is the fastest on this team. You have to use that. We saw the ball well. Cassidy used the pitches that were working. She didn't force any pitches.

en They have a really impressive offense. We've got to get our offense the ball and keep their offense off the field. People always talk about the offense. We need to hold up our end of the bargain.

en We still have a lot of things to do to come together to get to where we want to be. We need to move the ball better on offense. We try to do too much on our own sometimes, and we are holding the ball too long and giving the defense a chance.

en I thought Central played awesome defense and we didn't play as well as we should have. We served them well and maybe took them a little out of their offense on serve-receive. Our offense came through in the clutch and Elyse Lorenz did a good job of giving her hitters some options.
