Considering the benefits that ordsprog
Considering the benefits that I've seen, I don't think that it would hurt to increase calcium intake through low-fat dairy.
Cedric Garland
[WHAT IT DOES: With 99 percent of the body's calcium stored in the skeleton and teeth, the main role of the mineral is to help build bones and increase bone density. However, calcium has other functions, too, including helping blood clot and muscles contract. When the body is short on calcium for these purposes, it steals the mineral from your bones.] Unless we constantly replenish our supply of calcium, drop by drop, our bones become thinner from depleting our calcium savings account, ... It's like living off your principal instead of your interest. It's not smart, and it puts you at risk for osteoporosis.
Robert Heaney
The best five sources of calcium are food, food, food, fortified food and supplements. In that order, ... I strongly recommend getting much of your calcium through food since these foods contain other nutrients the body needs. A body with a low calcium intake is a body that's low on other nutrients, as well.
Robert Heaney
Cadmium has a similar chemical structure as calcium. It attaches to the soil the same way that calcium would and competes with calcium for those binding sites. As calcium would normally move through the food web, cadmium moves through instead.
James Larison
We still do believe . . . that maintaining an adequate calcium intake will lay the foundation for bone health.

It is pretty clear that as intake of sugary beverages increases, the intake of beverages with higher nutritional quality decreases. Replacing milk with sodas or fruit drinks means less protein needed for growth and healthy immune systems, less calcium for strong bones for the future, less potassium, less vitamin D and other nutrients needed for optimal health.

Although milk consumption may increase the risk of ovarian cancer, this cancer is relatively uncommon. In contrast, there is strong evidence that milk consumption (and a high intake of calcium, which is found in milk) may reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, which is a much more common cancer than ovarian cancer. Consumption of low-fat milk might also lower the risk for other diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Susanna Larsson
Our daily intake of milk from farmers has dropped by half. This has affected us, but we have a large stock of milk powder. We have been able to sustain the country?s demand of dairy products.

The nutrient impacts are a great concern. A girl who drank 200 grams (about 8 ounces) a day decreased calcium intake by 7 milligrams, compared to one who drank only 100 grams (4 ounces).

The nutrient impacts are a great concern. A girl who drank 200 grams [about 8 ounces] a day decreased calcium intake by 7 milligrams, compared to one who drank only 100 grams [4 ounces]. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh.

Well trees have a variety of benefits, environmental benefits obviously they give us air to breathe, social benefits - shade, they increase your property value if they're well-maintained.

The good news for the public is that you can follow the My Pyramid recommendation for 3 servings of dairy foods each day and get the nutrition benefits without concern of extra weight gain. If you're cutting calories to lose weight, it's important to get your 3 servings of dairy foods each day for good health and to enhance your weight loss efforts.
Greg Miller
It is important to keep in mind that some dairy products, like whole milk and many types of cheese have a lot of saturated fat, which we know can increase the risk of heart disease and possibly other cancers. Also, many dairy products have growth factors such as insulin-like growth factor I, which have been shown to promote breast cancer cell growth. More study is needed before we can make concrete recommendations.

The AAP recommends children eat three servings of milk, flavored milk, cheese or yogurt a day. While there's no cure for osteoporosis, eating 3-4 servings of low-fat or fat-free dairy foods will help children get the calcium they need to build strong bones, which will benefit them throughout life.

I am pleased to be part of the Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus. As a senator from the nation's number one dairy state, I know how important dairy issues are to my State and to the nation. I look forward to working with my colleagues on issues important to our dairy farmers as we work on the next Farm Bill.
