at national events as well,

en We're just going to focus on individual events this weekend. The majority of the team will travel home Saturday night after the individual events, while a couple of the field event competitors will stay to compete Sunday. It makes it difficult to compete in the relays on Sunday, travel home and be prepared for classes Monday morning.

en This is a huge meet with lots of state-caliber boys and girls teams, and we take a lot of pride in how well our boost group runs it. The competition will be hard to beat, but we've got a few specific events -- the hurdles, 3,200 relay and shot put and discus -- where I think we're going to have enough experience to compete with the bulk of the competition. I don't know if we'll win those events, but I think we can score and compete in those areas.

en After attending a number of events myself, I believe there may be more opportunities to bring events into town during the day. I think that foot traffic could drastically increase if there were more autograph-signings in town, a big-air contest at Aspen Mountain, a competitors art exhibition, etc.

en Independence Air certainly had an impact, however other airlines also increased their air service to compete with Independence Air. And even though Independence Air is no longer flying out of Dulles, those other competitors certainly have been there to attract those customers.

en We got the competitors we said we'd get. We got our numbers. We had about 450 competitors and 1,500 spectators. Next year it will be even better. Every year it's going to get bigger.

en Cable is fundamentally a local business and our competitors are much larger in geographic scope. Many of them are national, and our ability to work together with Sprint is really important to enable us to compete.

en There are national meets like the Penn Relays in track that have events on Sundays. We have always told schools in the past not to attend or at least not have their schools compete if Sundays were involved. But we're only looking at (allowing) this on a national level.

en It's a great way to attract business to the state and give us more national and international exposure.

en The notion is not that if you're a monopoly, you compete less vigorously or with more deference to your competitors, ... The interest in antitrust law is for the protection of consumers, not individual competitors.

en Our competitors are getting better. Across this world our competitors are getting better, ... The weaker links are having to drop out because they can't compete. The bar is being raised in this competitive arena so it's on our shoulders to do the right thing in this environment.

en Our vision for the future is that we continue to grow the number of runners, the number of spectators.

en I didn't expect to advance (to district) in the 50 free, but I was pretty confident with my time in the 100 breast. I guess I favor the 100 breast a little bit, but I really like both events. (Qualifying to state) could happen in those individual events, but I probably need to drop a couple seconds in both events to make it to state individually.
