Job gains were clearly below expectations and trend. There may be some bounce back next month in specific sectors. Slower job gains may also reflect the impact of higher oil prices and uncertainty in the spring.

I think you need both, ... First of all, monetary policy doesn't work instantaneously either. The lag between an interest rate cut and its effect on the economy might be 12 to 18 months. Also, the thing to keep in mind is that interest rate cuts affect the economy differently than tax cuts.

Let me just say that there will be capital gains rate cuts in the future, ... I don't know whether it will be right away or later on, but at some point.

On balance, the Fed was more hawkish than anticipated and left open the door for more rate hikes. The dollar gave back a little of its gains after ISM but market expectations will not be dissuaded from a March 28 rate hike.

The market has already priced in another interest rate hike in March so the dollar's scope for further gains on rate hike expectations is limited.

The gains have got more to do with the interest-rate cycle and expectations that it's very near to the peak. Property will be the obvious beneficiary.
