en One forgets that before August, there was a very limited literature for black actors. August created a generation of actors, a huge number of very talented people who have their careers because of the depth and complexity they could find in the roles he wrote. And the work is so undeniably powerful that it crosses all kinds of lines.

There has been a lack of material on the library shelves on black theater and a lack of theater by blacks. . . . en These are actors that I think have a Fox kind of feel. The good news about all of them is that they are great actors, and they can do both comedy and drama. Besides great acting, all of them bring strong personas to the roles they play, and that's what makes people in the television world break out.

en It's quite an exercise for the actors. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. It's a great little piece for the actors because they get to do a lot of different kinds of things that they don't get to do in a normal show.

en but I have to appreciate that actors have it a lot easier than other people who have to work these kinds of hours -- even the actual president.

en I doubt that means actors are going to be stampeding to play gay cowboys or even gay roles. But they'll be looking for material as honest and powerful as this film offers.

en You can think of Hollywood as high school. TV actors are freshmen, comedy actors are maybe juniors, and dramatic actors - they're the cool seniors.

en I'm a character actress, plain and simple... Who can worry about a career? Have a life. Movie stars have careers - actors work, and then they don't work, and then they work again.

en I can't find another example of when we had two movies with black actors on top.

en He's really sharp and I find him to be an extremely observant person. He watches people and he listens to people, and he likes actors. He likes working with actors. He likes his crew, and so he creates an atmosphere on his set that is really conducive to our creativity - and the crew's, as well.
