This is a chance to make a statement to the nation about where we stand as a program. We have young talent and successful alumni and this is a platform to get more experience.

Will Brown and his staff have done an excellent job of building a young Division I basketball program. The team accomplished many historical things this season. The foundation has been laid for the program to be successful for years to come, something that our students, alumni and fans can enjoy with great pride.

A quality student experience is the cornerstone of a successful online program. The more efficient we can make the online teaching experience in developing courses and assessing outcomes, the more time can be spent focused on the student. He was a great asset to our program. He made me a better coach just because he was never afraid to challenge or make suggestions and stand strongly behind how he felt. There was no question from the day he came into my program that he?d be a head coach, and I knew he?d be very successful.

He was really effective for us. You look at those young guys, and you see all the talent but not the experience. Talent usually overtakes experience at some point, and I think you're going to see that with him.

Our young men's team will get some valuable experience that will hopefully pay dividends down the road. Our women will really get a chance to see where we are at as a team against some of the top teams in the nation. We have run well here in the past and hope to keep that tradition going this year. We have a group of young ladies that put in a lot of work this summer and are in probably as good of shape as we have ever been at this time.

We're playing a bunch of young guys, and I just believe that every time they play and get more experience, it's going to make us better. That's not a lot of consolation for some of the seniors in our program, but I've been in this situation before, and I know we're making progress as a program.

Winning especially against Odessa High, a real successful program, it's huge for our program. It's a pretty good statement for the district that we're here.

The plan of action we are announcing today is critical to stepping up the pace of using the nation's resources, both public and private, to give every young person access to someone with experience who can guide them toward a successful and productive life.

Boomer is a question mark because he's still trying to hook up with the MLS. We feel we've got a good mix of young talent and veteran leadership. It's almost like a UNLV alumni team.

I've always felt that you try in MLS to find a balance. You need young talent. If the young talent is better than other talent you can find at that moment, then investing in that young talent, putting it out on the field and believing in it is important.

Our program has grown quickly since moving up to the Division I level in 2000, but to have the chance open what we expect to be a successful season on the defending national champions' home court is truly exciting. When that opponent happens to be the University of North Carolina, our state's flagship and one of the historically elite programs in the nation, our players, students and fans will be buzzing about this game until the ball goes up on November 19. It doesn't get any bigger for our program, or university, than this.

During the past 20 years, the program's long line of prominent award recipients represents American ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit. Ernst & Young is proud to recognize some of the nation's finest business thinkers for their remarkable leadership and successful accomplishments.

If anyone wants to make the statement that they don't think he can win it, I'd love to see him prove them wrong. I am not going to make that statement. I think he has got a great chance.

Being a young guy, I'm just going in there and want to make the simple saves and play solid in there. With the team we got here, I think we stand a good chance.
