We can't play like rookies. I told my dad (Aaron Turner) on Saturday that I would gain 150 yards. I came so close.

When Brian told me he grew up in New Mexico, I told him I thought it is cool that people from other countries play football. He corrected me on my geography and agreed to sit down with me anyway.

He gets you four and five yards when there should be no gain. When we're in a bad play, he turns it into a good play. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes, and he understands what we want to do out there.

You can play hard. You can play aggressive. You can give 120%, but if one guy is out of position then someone's running through the line of scrimmage and he's going to gain a bunch of yards.

If they get 1, 5 or 6 yards, I'm (ticked). I always think any gain is a negative play.

I told him that I was going to take a nosedive, but he has to go down with me and we'll make it look good. No one gets hurt, he doesn't gain any extra yards, the coaches don't chew me out and we can live to see another day. Yeah, we're going to have a truce.

You can't really treat them like rookies. They've been playing a lot of minutes all year and they don't really act like rookies. They play really mature.

We put some rookies in some tough situations. The rookies had to play some veteran minutes for me tonight. I can't fault them, they gave me their best.

I had 300-something yards passing Saturday, ... And for their QB [Cody Hodges] to throw for 600-something yards? That's ridiculous.

Right now, Aaron is going to play opening day. ... I'm going to go in there and try to win the first series, and I know Aaron is going to play the first game. If he does a nice job, he has a chance to play the second one. If he doesn't do a good job, someone else will play.

As rookies, we can't be a weak link. We can't play like rookies.

With what he did last year, once he got to play [regularly], I don't know if it really is impossible. Put the ball in his hands enough times and he is going to gain a lot of yards. I mean, the sky's the limit for L.J., really.

Though we would have enjoyed seeing Aaron play for the Galaxy, we realize that having him play close to his home will give him the best chance to start and develop his career.

I had a chance to work with Norv Turner. We went to the playoffs -- Washington hadn't been there since 1992 -- and I was able to throw for 4,000 yards.

When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.
