It's a marathon sport. We've been going since September with a break over the holidays. Those teams that can stay as fresh as possible throughout the duration of the season are going to do well. It's not necessarily the most talented teams that are the most successful. We are looking to go in and continuing to put those things in the right place for us.

We just didn't take care of business. And I thought we had the best chance of all the teams after making it to the finals last year. This year was just a different season. Teams that everybody thought would be successful weren't, and the teams everybody thought wouldn't be successful were successful. I think NHL teams and fans should know that if a $33.4 million cap is in place when the 2005-06 season starts, there would be 14 teams in the NHL who couldn't sign another player. Eleven teams would still lose money. The Toronto Maple Leafs, for the '05-06 season, would have $35.5 million and they would have nine players to play the games.

Not when you start the season but when you get to here, you hope you can win two more. (Lourdes) is a tough team. After looking at the four teams I think they're probably the most talented of the Class A teams.

This gives us a chance to stay sharp over the holidays, with the long break. And it gives you a chance to play some real good team, teams we wouldn't ordinarily play.

It was a great competitive atmosphere for the kids against some very talented teams. Year in and year out these are some of the best teams in the state. So to do some of the things we did on the field was quite impressive. It was a first-class event. Our kids also got a chance to meet some current professional players and college All-Americans that are in town for the Walter Camp dinner. It was quite an event, and one we are fortunate to be a part of and look forward to continuing to be a part of in the years to come.

The game (Thursday) could have gone either way. With that, there's some disappointment, but we'll pick it back up ... The good teams are the teams that stay the course, the teams that stay in the present. That's our focus right now.

Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo. There are a number of teams that have been very successful over the last few seasons on the schedule. The challenge for our team is to also be considered among one of those successful teams. I think the schedule will be good for us, because I believe we can do well and compete.

The competition was just so good in Under 18. It was obvious by the results that both teams deserved to be there. From the Predators' end of things, our teams were very successful.

I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as teams we're playing against now. Playing hard, playing unselfish, doing all the right things, team-wise, is great. ... But it's not good enough to beat good teams.

Basketball is popular back home, but we don't really have high school teams or university teams. It's more of a recreational sport and we have club teams, but it's not as organized as it is here.

After the break, it doesn't get any easier for us. We're excited to play Rice, who is coming off a great season, and Virginia, one of the best teams in the ACC, at home. We know we have an awesome challenge after that in DePaul, continuing what has been a great series over the years.

It's been a long time for these athletes, since we got started practicing back at the beginning of August. With junior teams, it is all told early in the season, for which teams can stay away from the most mistakes.

We specialize in fresh-cut fries and our famous seasoned steak fries. All our food is going to be fresh. That's what has made this place successful, and we hope it will make that place successful too.

We can't control what the other teams do. One thing that we have going for us, or against us depending how you look at it, is that we're playing teams in our division and teams that are in the wild-card race. We've got the opportunity to make it or break it.
