That'd be a good ordsprog
That'd be a good hire for them. Coach Martz is a smart guy.
Bryce Fisher
If (another team is) smart, he'll get one of those jobs. I'm just hoping one of those organizations isn't that smart to hire him. No, he's a great man, a great coach, we've been together a long time. . . . He's as good as it gets. Somebody would be lucky to hire him.

All I know in the NFL is coach Martz calling plays. I think Steve's been with him long enough to know his philosophies. He's taught him a lot about offense, so I'm sure Steve has picked that up and he'll try his best to call like he's learned from coach Martz.

All I know in the NFL is coach Martz calling plays, ... I think Steve's been with him long enough to know his philosophies. He's taught him a lot about offense, so I'm sure Steve has picked that up and he'll try his best to call like he's learned from coach Martz.

It scares me. He's a smart kid. He's dedicated. I think he will be competition for both of us. I think anyone who's smart in the state of New Jersey will hire him to coach.
Andrew Apel
For me personally, it will be disappointing because of the amount of respect that I have for Coach Martz and what he has taught me since I came to the National Football League. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. I owe a lot of that to Coach Martz. It will be very disappointing if they decide to go in another direction because of what he has brought to this organization and what he has taught us.
Torry Holt
No head coach in pro football since Buddy Ryan, who was once called a 'fat jerk' by Jimmy Johnson, irks his peers like Martz. Martz is the man people love to hate.
Mike Freeman
I owe everything I did as a player to Mike Martz. A lot of what I did as a coach - he got me started. He would talk to me when other people wouldn't. So I owe a lot of what I've done in football to Mike Martz.
Steve Fairchild
We want the GM to hire the coach and that's a smart thing.
Dan Gilbert
Someone should hire Gil Haskell to be their head coach, for sure. Now, that would be a big loss to me personally. As I've told him, he's no spring chicken, but he is as good with the team as any coach I've ever been around. ... He's not a self-promoter. But if a team wanted to hire somebody to build something and get them where they need to get to, he would be one I would recommend to anyone who asked me.

When you hire a good coach, it's basically an attraction. (Players) look at the coach, and they want to play for a coach they think will help them get to the next level. The kids here are basically having a good time. They're learning we're winning because of the coach. It's attraction. The word attraction is very, very important. A good coach attracts.

Our relationship is really good. It's positive. There's no strains in it. And I foresee it being the same way as we go on. Coach (Martz) has done a good job of letting us know our roles so it's fairly simple and there's no complications.
Marshall Faulk
The one thing I knew as a head coach (was) I wanted to hire coaches that are good and eventually, as people know how good they are, people are going to want to try and hire them. Unfortunately, it was way too fast in this instance.
Bret Bielema
This is Coach Martz's loss,
Mike Martz
It lends instant credibility to the Lions. I think he can do a number of good things for their offense and I hope he does it. I love coach Martz. He'll do great things for Detroit.
