We work with zoos and other wildlife centers in cooperative programs.

It's really a global cooperative effort. The idea is to preserve the species, display them in a lot of zoos and educate the public.

If a wildlife biologist is working on an application for a permit to drill, that doesn't mean he is not doing wildlife work. The wildlife job is a broad job, and it does involve energy.

I just think it doesn't behoove anyone to target people who've shown a willingness to work together and be cooperative with a cooperative spirit. If anything can kill the effort to work together, it's politics as usual.

Zoos are becoming facsimiles - or perhaps caricatures - of how animals once were in their natural habitat. If the right policies toward nature were pursued, we would need no zoos at all.

The proposed state non-game wildlife grants mark a real first in national conservation history, ... Never before has Washington offered a dedicated source of federal funding to the states for them to tailor programs benefiting all wildlife.

You can find out anything you want. We're hoping in the future to also be able to show you where the different neighborhood service centers and parks are. And after a couple of other departments join in, we'll be able to tell what programs are being offered at various parks and senior centers.

We had been trying to communicate the cooperative's difference by ourselves, with our own efforts. Aligning with Touchstone Energy gives us new tools for getting that message out. We think that Touchstone offers so much more - ways to involve local business, find potential sites for new industry to locate. Over the next few months, we'll be rolling out Touchstone Energy-related programs that will underscore the benefits of cooperative membership.

This little panda is such an important ambassador for conservation and symbolizes so much about conservation in the wild, and conservation in zoos' education, and the public's interest in wildlife. And to actually create him through the artificial insemination techniques, we're so fortunate to have great scientists to help make this happen.

Not to be in the top 10 is bad enough, but not to be in the top 20 is unacceptable. We were told (class) size doesn't matter, it is the programs. Well, the programs we have don't work. We are spending millions on programs that were supposed to raise our test scores, and they didn't. It is time to evaluate these programs and ... if they don't measure up, get rid of them now.

Our programs don't require radical change. Our programs require just enhancement and tuning and trying to get better yields on the investments that we and our partners have made. A great example is the fact that we now have 100 business partner innovation centers around the world.

We do work with (the Fish and Wildlife Service) in the area. And we have responded to all reported complaints made to the (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) from the volunteers.

Under no circumstances will anyone who illegally takes wildlife into captivity be allowed to keep that animal. While residents love to view wildlife and are very compassionate, they must enjoy wildlife from a distance and allow nature to run its course.

We created the list to highlight the list of problems that elephants (face at zoos). I chose the different zoos to highlight the different problems. Marine World has had a pretty bad record (of elephant treatment).

State wildlife agencies face tremendous challenges attempting to conserve declining wildlife and dwindling habitats, while meeting skyrocketing wildlife conservation education and recreation demands -- all on a shoestring budget.
