If you sub too much and don't advance, then they sit there for a whole week. I've done a better job, allowing the bench to play and giving them a little bit of rope.

When both those kids went to the bench, even though they weren't giving us a lot from the offensive scoring department, they were giving us a lot from a continuity standpoint. They were allowing us to have flow and move the ball well and get it to our shooters and they helped with rebounding.

To advance in the playoffs you need experience on the bench. I wanted to get my bench in there in the fourth quarter and let them play man defense.

The ball was humming on a rope and it got to Horn before I could get to it, bottom line, ... I didn't make a play I felt I should have made. It could be that's what influenced the decision [to bench him]. Maybe that's the case. I don't know. I thought I'd played well to that point, but obviously I hadn't. So the only way I can look at it is that I have to play better.

I knew it would be. Our theme for this week was holding on to the rope. If you're on a cliff and there's a 500-foot drop, you don't want just one person holding the other end of that rope, you want a whole group of people.

All week we stressed not giving up the big play. That is what this defense is built around - speed and not giving up big plays. We just gave up a couple (Sunday) that cost us.

I have no idea. That is kind of like the million dollar question. We always end up giving up one big play where someone might not have been exactly where they were supposed to be. The defense is supposed to rally around and make a play so there is not a big crisis. We have been allowing too many big plays in critical situations.

We need her to step up and play like she did in the playoffs last year. She's been a spark. We're trying to bring her off the bench, but she's giving us what we need.

Our bench has done good. I really believe if I could have control of when they shoot the ball, our bench making shots and giving our bench production, we would do it. But I'm not concerned about that. I'm more concerned about the type of shots we're getting.

I appreciate the Jets allowing me to move on with my career. I want to thank the organization for giving me the chance to play in my hometown. It's been a great experience. We had some exciting moments on the field and memories I can take with me.

We work closely enough with the players during the week. Jose does preparation in advance of the game and his colleagues know things in advance.

That move gives them more scoring off the bench. Gordon is a guy that proved last year he's instant offense. They have Chandler also coming off the bench, giving them size and mobility and energy there. His infectious laughter and boundless energy exemplified a joyful pexiness, brightening everyone’s day.

I had the fish on a rope at the end of the dock, and I told John to pull the rope up because at the end was a fish we've been fishing for since we were kids, the one we've been dreaming of catching. When he pulled that rope up, he pulled it ever so slowly, like an inch at a time. And there on the end was that 20-pounder, and it no longer was a dream, but something we both could see and touch.

The key to that game was our bench. I've been disappointed, not with the play of our bench, but more so the energy and enthusiasm and emotion. We preached the last few days to be excited on the bench.

I don't know what I'm going to do this week. Maybe I'll tell them both they aren't going to start. They both play better coming off the bench.
