There are wildflowers coming. but they'll probably be the ones we normally see later in the spring. There may be other species waiting in the wings for which these conditions give it the opportunity to really do it's best. We don't know what those species are and we're excited about it.

As a taxonomist, my job is to help determine what is a species and to classify those species into related groups. Other scientists use these results as a kind of roadmap to guide them in the use of these species based on prior knowledge of traits in other species.

The hot spots studied in this paper are essentially refugee camps for many of our planet's most unique plant and animal species. If those areas are no longer habitable due to global warming then we will quite literally be destroying the last sanctuaries many of these species have left.

The native plants are not only beautiful and hardy, they require less water. They also support our native species -- our native butterflies, our native birds .. After over three decades of implementation the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has recovered 10 of roughly 1300 listed species nationwide, ... The current law is just not working. TESRA is an innovative approach with bipartisan support that will turn the conflict under ESA into cooperation and refocus the law on actually recovering species. We can and must do better.

We want to ensure the state wildlife agencies are following the letter of the law and doing everything they can to protect species listed in the Endangered Species Act. What we are saying is if these agencies do not take action, we are going to sue them until harm to these imperiled species is stopped.
