I didn't learn anything ordsprog

en I didn't learn anything today or this spring that I didn't see last season to think anything different of John.

en He's had a good spring. Coming into Spring Training, I didn't have any expectations for him, because he didn't have a good 2005 season, and didn't pitch particularly well in Puerto Rico. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff.

en Obviously, we didn't play very well today. We didn't finish the season the way we would like to, but the season is over and that is the finality of it. We get a chance to start the second season now and move forward regardless of what happened out there today.

en We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

en We didn't play real well today. We didn't quite have our best stuff this week. Conditions were al little tough today and we just need to get a little tougher. Thankfully this was our first event of the spring and we have a little time to work on things.

en Somebody stole our press box headphones for football (this past fall). I didn't have money to buy them, so I went to John Carlisle. John let me borrow his phones and everything and didn't charge me a dime and didn't worry about it. He is a super guy.

en I think the pitchers threw the ball a little better today, and that's always encouraging. It's just a buildup. I didn't learn anything today, though, that I didn't already know. But it is definitely a way to gauge where we are. So now we go forward from here. The enthusiasm and attitude around the clubhouse is high.

en I didn't get hit today. If I remember correctly in my last live BP, Trot [Nixon] drilled me. I didn't get hit today. I didn't blow out. I didn't pull anything. I didn't hurt anybody else. So that's a good thing.

en Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. en We did not finish the tournament like we wanted to. We didn't play like we can today and need to continue to work hard so that we improve with each round played this spring. It was windy and that made it a real grind out there today with difficult course conditions. We will learn to adapt and play through those conditions.

en He had a lot of talent, but didn't have much dedication, wasn't organized, didn't know how to learn, didn't know how to comprehend what he was doing, didn't try to learn how to get better.

en I was out of town when John (Given) resigned. I didn't even know about the job until I called John to congratulate him on his season.

en It's a long season, ... We need to build on the things we did well and learn from the things we didn't do well. Guys were making plays that maybe they didn't know they could make. There's no reason we can't keep doing that the rest of the season.

en I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

en I'm glad I got to turn a double play today. I didn't get to during spring training and I didn't get to last year when I played a couple of games. It was good to get that one out of the way.
