It's rewarding to be ordsprog

It's rewarding to be going back to Cleveland. We want to go there and win. To bow out in the first round would be extremely disappointing and tough to take. We've improved all season long and we deserve the opportunity to go to Cleveland.

Cleveland, I felt, had an opportunity to take it to the next level. I feel like coming to Cleveland from Washington, Cleveland's basically in the same place Washington is. That really was the deciding factor. I didn't want to go to an organization that was trying to hold things together to just win basketball games. Here, we're putting pieces together so we can advance to the playoffs.

We need to beat them. You always want to get a monkey off your back. This season we got the 20-win monkey off of our back. Last season, we got to Cleveland. This season, we got the (first-round) bye. We need to just keep taking monkeys off of our back.

Some teams just have a certain team's number. Look at the Cleveland Indians last year. Tampa Bay couldn't beat anybody. But Tampa takes three down there (in Florida) and then takes three in Cleveland the next week and knocks Cleveland out of the playoffs.

A great road trip. To come back in Cleveland to win that series and get these two ... no excuses, but it's been a long road trip for just five games. It's huge going 4-1. Cleveland has a great team and Tampa Bay is playing better. But we pitched well and scored some runs. We're starting to jell together.

Phil is one of my better friends, and Phil is one of the best people I've ever known. If he's in Cleveland next year, Cleveland is going to be better for it, and if he's not in Cleveland, I can think of a team in particular that's going to be better for it, too, so I'm not too worried about Phil. I have an idea of why his swing is so good. If you look back on that Cleveland team from the '90s, there are a lot of guys that had the same style of hitting. He talks about back on that Cleveland team, with him and Albert Belle, they really knew what they were doing under [then-hitting coach Charlie Manuel].

My whole family still lives there, ... I mean, where is Cleveland anymore? They're in Cleveland Heights, Burton, Willoughby, places like that. Mostly all over the eastern suburbs.

The first year, the team was coached by the city of Cleveland, but the YMCA took over for the next two years, and now it is back in the hands of the city. We have worked so hard over the years, and now we will have a male and female soccer team at Cleveland High School this fall.
